Oh crap qx9775=lg771

I'm just wondering if a qx9775 will fit on my x48 or am i gonna loose money and have to order another board. I could get a 790i ultra from xfx for 80 bucks my board manufacturer and specs says it can handle 1600 mhz processors

To my knowledge socket 775 and 771 are two different sockets, so its unlikely that it will work.

Regardless the QX9775 is an extreme edition and is not worth the price tag for its performance. Your current CPU (Q9450 @3.4ghz) is plenty fast enough, if you are unsatisified with its performace sell it on ebay and buy a faster AMD equivalent with the SAME money, you'll even have cash left over.

I didn't get it a retail price other wise i wouldn't have bought it damn i just wasn't paying attention oh well i'll just find something i can throw it in and hope for the best or try and resell it

any board that fits the QX9775 has 2 sockets lol meaning you cant run it without 2 of the, your best bet is post it up on ebay and sell that bitch

Did you order it from newegg? Have you opened the box? If not you could refuse the package. Or email them saying you didn't open it and send it back. I don't think newegg really cares about giving you your money back as long as the package isn't opened.

I didn't know what i was getting myself into with this processor i was really looking to go from a q9450 to a q9770 and ended up with a q9775, i'm trying to send it back and get my money back so i can purchase the q9770 from the same guy

that cpu should fit into any socket 771 XEON board but you will need server ram for it aswell
