Most of the DX10 games on that list are just DX9 games with a DX10 lighting pass. I like DX10, but I've yet to see a game that really made me go "Wow!" when playing in DX10 over DX9 at max settings.

Stalker clear skies has some AMAZING scenes in dx10.1

At one point I had it mostly maxed out, maybe a few settings turned down since it is so demanding, and I was looking at a bunch of people around a campfire and one of them had a guitar.

I was amazed, it was easily the best graphics I have ever seen. I may reinstall it... I wasn't a gigantic fan of the gameplay.

Just so you know - there is no real difference between DirectX 10 games and DirectX 9 games.

The only difference I've SEEN is in Crysis and it's not worth the performance drop in any way.

I disaggree with you there, to me there IS a difference in games like World in Conflict, Far Cry 2, Devil May Cry 4, albiet they might not be massive differences, improvements in lighting, shading, texture sharpness, effects are all there. I do agree it's not massive, but with modern mid-range GPU's capable of DX10 gaming easily, you might as well enjoy the game with the eye candy it offers. Weighing out performance drop is another problem that's been around since the first gen DX10 cards of course, and I'm sure won't stop with DX11 either...but with more graphics, sharper textures, improved lighting and shadowing methods will come the need for more powerful hardware. If I have a game that has an option for DX10 rendering I run it and enjoy...no sense in doing otherwise on a modern rig imo. Really even after said performance drops, if I'm still getting silky smooth framerates...I could care less about said performance drop.

You couldn't run it maxed out with duel 4850's? What resolution were you running?

I have every DirectX 10 game ever released (even the bad ones, just for testing), and I've yet to see a difference worthy of the performance drop. Even with my build I can't play Crysis @ 2560x1600, so DX10 is a no-go. When it comes to games like Devil May Cry 4, anyone can run them in DX10 because they're not actually making any use of better eye-candy, and it shows. Basically, DX10 is either implemented and not usable because of an unjustified performance drop due to insufficiently resourceful programing or it doesn't look any better. It's only logical.
Also, I think that DX11 is an even worse idea. DX10 games have not be honed enough. DX11 will only make things as impossible to work with when DX10 was first released. It's ALL marketing these days, and I, for one, am sick of it and am not buying into it anymore.

Crysis in DX9 is WOW too, first time I played it was on a X1950XT, High settings 1280x1024, low-20fps but playable-ish, looked fantastic.

Stalker clear skies has some AMAZING scenes in dx10.1

I've not played any DX10.1 games, but even DX10.1 is just a few new features and better lighting. It's all going towards better graphics, so it's all good :)

right, I under stand that... lol but the issue is....

I don't have any ammo to kill anything to get more!! i'm running around slapping people with my hands! its driving me crazy!!
just activate super strength and start punching people to death, if its not on delta you should be able to take quite a bit of shots punching them one or two times on super strength should kill them, then pick up there ammo, if you like conversing ammo, pick up the main rifle attach the silencer and use alot of cloak, pop em in the head, and so forth

Well, I know even more and that's enough to know that there is not a huge difference.
Well you are the first person i've ever heard say there is not a difference. Maybe its just personal preference... you say white I say black. But for me, there is a hugh difference.

That's not logical. You could say that Crysis looks awesome, I could say that Crysis looks awful. But saying that Crysis looks better in DX10 than in DX9 is simply false. Perhaps there is some psychological element to your philosophy in how when a game runs with a lower frame rate, your mind makes the connection of it looking better.

I don't think i said it looks better over dx9 ... what I said was that Crysis is awesome in dx10 And the very few games i've played in both dx9 and 10 the dx10 have looked better... atleast on my system. So, again... its a matter of personal preference.

Alright, well I'm just saying that when it comes to choosing between DX9 and DX10 in Crysis, I always choose the former.

Can't blame ya Weer, I just find it hard in this day and age even if the difference is negligable to not run DX10 when the option arises. I don't get games because of DX10, I get games that I want...so many of my games are DX9, which is fine. I think DX10/10.1/11 are marketing also, but I do hope some more good comes of it, and I believe it will, just not how we want it to be. Wish in one hand, sh!t in the other, see which fills up first right? Yeah...that's kind of my take on the future of DX at this route, but there is still some pretty promsing stuff coming up. Each person has their own preference, I prefer to run my games maxxed out, all features enabled, including DX10, my rig does it fine, and I'm sure yours doesn't suffer too horridly Weer, that's a helluva build you have!

You're going to be dissapointed if you expect other games to look as good as crysis, even with dx10. Crysis has the best fps graphics by far, it can be difficult to go back to older or less polished games after playing crysis.
