at this point so how would this one do with some gaming? I've never had an Intel chip as AMD has done well for me. I know you pay more for the Intel chips. Which is the better chip. Would this system be as sufficient as say the AMD Quad core?

If you don't have a lot of cash then go for the A10. It will run most games on low-med settings with very playable frame rates. And some games will even run on high.

For medium gaming laptop, there's nothing that can top the 660gtx for price and battery life. The you have Radeon 7970m and GTX 675mx on high end. But anything in this league is just too expensive and non portable to be a laptop. The best set up I've seen so far is Sager for portability in a gaming laptop but it's still too big heavy for my taste.

I use a Lenovo Y580 for travel gaming(660 gtx). But I think I pretty much wasted my money as I hardly ever use it for gaming. Maybe I'm just getting old. My laptop can run Star Craft 2 at 80-100 fps on light scenes and still maintain fluid 30 fps on heavy battles.

I only have a budget of $500-600.

If I wanted to serious gaming I'd get a gaming rig as in Desktop.

If you must get that particular laptop, the first thing you should do is wipe the HDD and install a fresh copy of Windows on it. The amount of extra useless software (bloatware) slows them down considerably. Either way, for gaming it is not a good laptop.

For that much money check out the K55DR. It has a dual core clocked at 2.7ghz, with crossfire. I can play fallout NV on it on medium with 20+ mods no problem. It plays TF2, Payday and even BFBC2 without too many problems. Its kinda awesome for the price. The only problem I have with it is the texture of the trackpad.

HD6550 and 7650 beat Intel hands down in graphics if he is looking into gaming. When I reviewed Trinity agiant Intels 4000 series graphics, Intel gave low frame rates and choppy gaming making the OPs choice not recommended.
