Okay, can someone offer me some good OC settings for a Ryzen 5 3600 please?

As the title says really. Got 9995 multi core yesterday. Messed about in Ryzen Master and CTR and turned on PBO in bios and now getting 9462. Why do I do this to myself? I wanted over 10000, lol. Help me again people with knowledge.

I know I'm a pleb, but help would be so much appreciated.

Well, I'll just have to try my best on my own. I'm suddenly DerBauer.

If your cooler isn't enough to withstand the heat from the increased PBO limits, the higher temps force the CPU to reduce clocks and thus reduce the score. Lower the PBO limits by 10W and try again.

I don't know man, many people have been reporting that their Ryzen CPUs degrade at stock settings yet lots of people continue to play with PBO as if there's no tomorrow. I could maybe understand if PBO was known to be safe, allowed to extract significantly more performance without requiring too much power but no, the gain is well below ~10% while power consumption jumps through the roof.

Just why? You're talking about a mere 5% performance increase which you'll never feel or notice anywhere unless you use a stopwatch.

Messed about in Ryzen Master and CTR

Just why? I've never had either installed. They are not required for your PC to work. Wanna check your temps/power consumption/voltages? Use HWiNFO64 - quite handy and allows to put the items you're interested in to the system tray.

Is this another thing I just need to leave alone and be happy with? I'll be happy with a working computer that I can upgrade, not a dead one.

I intend to get a 5700X when my lovely lady says I can purchase one. She says that it'll be before the end of the year, so I have to wait until whenever her Majesty see's fit.

I've never had a AMD cpu before and only owned pc's since lockdown. I'm that much of a n00b and I've watched lots of Linus and JayzTwoCents. I have HWmonitor and HWinfo64. I get on a mission and its like I can't stop myself. I've included a pic of my desktop so you can see all my programs. I could be a little obsessed. I also have an addictive personality.

It's the slowest part of my PC, so some afterburner settings would be great.

Did you try again after lowering the power limits in the PBO settings of the UEFI in order for the CPU to not reach temps above 75C?

I tried PBO once on my 2600X and all I seen was higher temps and similar cinebench scores.

No, ended up on Forza horizon 5. I will tomorrow though and will let you know the results.

I think I'll try hd64g's suggestion tomorrow and if that does nothing, put it back to stock and leave it alone until I've more knowledge of what I'm actually doing.

Source? many people reporting tells me nothing and I'm using a 5800X rn, no overclocks or PBO at all though but I'd like to know more

I've already spent years overclocking my old junk computers and don't want my current CPU to die before it can be considered junk as well.

My first CPU on AM4 was a 3600XT. I thought PBO was a waste of time for the most part. It didn't really do much. I ran mine at a static 4400 with something like 1.2675v, and 4500 with 1.3375v, that would have been my max all load voltage.. I was able to run some benches at 4600 and 4700MHz.. I should have kept that CPU.. seems a bit rare now.

3600 should boost to 4.4ghz with pbo but static clock and undervolt will make your cpu last forever, I ran my 3600x @ 4.25ghz and 1.25-1.27v, for the 3k and 5k Ryzens you want to stay at 1.3v or less for manual voltage (the 7nm process is intended to run on 1.3v according to the designer) so if you're running with less all the better.

I also tried this, my 2600X would just hard lock whenever I tried even a mild undervolt.

So e.g 1.52v at stock for 4.25ghz. Even something like 1.45v, would hard lock the PC. I either had a very bad binned chip or I did something wrong. So it was left at stock and I eventually turned of XFR so it only ever used the very low voltages. My 5600G which replaced it I just put straight into non XFR mode, didnt try any manual configuration, luckily the G chips have a higher non XFR clock speed than the non G chips. :) The 5600G has 3.9ghz without XFR.

IIRC mine throttles down to 3.9 GHz @ 88W PBO off in P95 and easily over the 65W TDP under real loads at 4.2GHz.

No headroom to speak of.

There's no valid reason to overclock 3600. So little to gain that it doesn't matter. It would be better for you to just use the stock settings and get a better cooler to make possible for the CPU to clock higher for longer or you could just disable PBO and run it at 3600 mhz max at 1.1 V to reduce heat.

On my 3700X I left PBO on auto which meant disabled. Haven't noticed any improvement when I enabled it anyway.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
The best gains for a Ryzen 5 3600 are an undervolt to keep its temperatures low and encourage max boost bin (4.2GHz) as well as getting your Infinity Fabric up to 1800MHz, which will require loosening your RAM timings if you're not using DDR4-3600 or higher.

Throwing a higher PPT, TDC, and EDC at it just raises the temperature for minimal gains on an R5 3600. Yes, it's a good CPU when looking at its historic price/performance ratio but the R5 3600 is edge-of-wafer, low-quality silicon that's too hot and hungry to be turned into either a 5900X or better-binned 6-core part.

So just let it live a comfortable stock life, pretty much? No problem.

My mobo can only go to 3466 mhz on ram with Zen 2, or at least that's what it says on MSI's site.

Benchmark Scores I once clocked a Celeron-300A to 564MHz on an Abit BE6 and it scored over 9000.
So just let it live a comfortable stock life, pretty much? No problem.

My mobo can only go to 3466 mhz on ram with Zen 2, or at least that's what it says on MSI's site.
Probably nonsense, but according to your system specs you've already managed to get 3466 out of your RAM.

Try 3600, and 3733 for shits and giggles if you have time to tinker. 1usmus DRAM calc is very handy for pushing your RAM frequency. You may find that even if your RAM is willing, 3733 is too much for the IMC on your CPU.

I tried 3600 and it said windows needs to repair itself. At which point I put it back to 3200 and was scared lol. Only this week did I try 3466 and was successful. When I see BSOD's I panic.

Says here.

You have a Gen3 Ryzen. It's not referring to Zen3, it's referring to the 3000-series.

Your OS corruption is caused by memory not running well at those speeds. Make yourself a Memtest86 USB stick and test looser timings at 3600. Only trust it with your OS once it passes at least the first couple of minutes of Memtest, and for a daily driver I'd let memtest run through one complete cycle before assuming it's stable.

What's almost guaranteed to fail is using the DDR4-3200 XMP settings and just cranking up the speed. I'm amazed that even works at 3466 TBH!
