Okay so my brother has upgraded from his 7 years old FSP Epsilon 80plus 600W power supply to a better one(Seasonic Focus plus 750W) because it was occasionally restarting his PC (i7-4770 and GTX 1070), presumably due to old age it can't handle the i7 and gtx 1070 anymore.

and now I have this spare PSU, an AMD APU combo (A10 7850k) will also come(thanks to the giveaway from this forum: techpowerup!)

is it okay to use the PSU for that build? can it handle low power hardware such as the APU? or is the PSU as good as busted?

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Try it and see... who knows if there is something wrong with it or not. It should have easily powered the system that it is in even after 'capacitor aging'...

Hi, just wanted to ask too. Since I bought a new power supply (Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 850W) a month ago, I have experienced random rebooting times considering that it's new, plus the fact that the power supply is making its clicking sounds everytime it powers up that seemed to spark or a part of the power supply itself short circuit after two weeks (hence the reason for powering off, then turns on after a while, and powers off after some time on its own). Is it a good decision to go for RMA because of its defective unit? Thanks.

i see. so chances are, the PSU is busted even if it put a low power hardware to it yes?

I would have no idea if its broken or what. Chances are it won't hurt anything if you try it though.
