Just in time for the five hundred unit field test, MIT has named the current prototype "Childrens Machine 1 (CM1)". The CM1 currently costs $140, but comes with improved specs for that price increase. It ships with an AMD Geode processor clocked at 400Mhz, 128MB of DRAM, built in wireless, and 512MB of internal flash storage. The screen specifications have been released as well. The screen operates at a resolution of 1200x900, which is higher then 95% of laptops currently on the market. There's also been a lot of success with the "sugar" user interface. Funded by Google's Summer of Code and Gnome, the sugar user interface is being coded for common linux applications such as Abiword. As artists and developers continue to work on the sugar user interface, the fruits of their labor can be seen here.
