OMG! ...no longer a Crysis virgin ;)

I posted a thread about buying the original Cryis a week or so ago: http://www.techpowerup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=158814

Found an eBay buyer in the UK, got Crysis Max NIB fo r$17.

All I can say about the game is... Wooohooo!!! Damn it's fun, hard, great gameplay, story and the graphics haven't stopped making me smile.

Runs *great* on my rig. The only complaint is screen tearing in some cut scenes.

I'm only mad at myself for not getting this sooner :toast:

i remember when i played it the wheel texture on the jeep forgot to load and so i had a wheel-less jeep. played it back when i had a 8800gt. everyone who didnt have a brand new pc was like :OOOO GRAPHICS! but i never passed it. looked good tho

I have a used 6850 on the way to run in my second rig... I'm wondering how it does with that.

Isn't the game also DX11 capable? I am also moving to Win7 x64, so I'm wondering what I'll get from the game on that...

It's DX9/DX10 (no DX11). Also it was a quite easy game even on delta :ohwell:

Yes, Crysis 2 has DX9 and DX11 support. However I prefer to run it without DX11 and only with the texture pack as the developers were either braindead or bought by the green team: http://techreport.com/articles.x/21404/1

Yeah it really is a pretty cool game outside of the amazing graphics. The fact no one could really run it in it's day kind of got in the way of most people discovering this.

Well I feel like there woudla been a lot more positive "fuss" about the gameplay mechanics and such if not for the heavy sys req's.

You can do a lot of cool and fun stuff with that suit!

The plot is pretty good too, at least relatively speaking.

OMG never played FEAR Shiiiiii... Shame FEAR 2 is not as good and FEAR 3 is worse than FEAR 2 lol.

Played though the second just for the story and had FEAR 3 for about 4 month now and don't care about it at all.

I read and heard the same about FEAR 2&3, so that's why I moved onto Crysis.

F.E.A.R. 1 is quite good. Graphics are relatvely crude by Crysis standards, but the game is very creative... and a few sceens where I literally got chills. I got the platinum pack with all three of the first games, played them all the way through.

That explains why I think that Crysis 2 DX11 looks by and large pretty unimpressive considering how it rapes my gfx card.

with the rig in my sig, I still cant max it with 4MSAA and get a full 60 FPS....and for a 5 year old game, that is just fucking ridiculous!

With my fancy pants G19 keyboard, I have resource monitor programs running which show that my gfx card is only at 60%, that CPU 4 (the rest are unused by this game which is totally single threaded) of my 2600K is at 70% capacity...so if my hardware is not getting fully utilised, why the hell am I dropping frames !?!? (it aint due to loading from hardrive cos I have an SSD).

Sas if you liked Crysis you should really think about getting Crysis Warhead, it compliments Crysis very well. Crysis 2 is A LOT different to either of those titles though.

Matthecat do you have vsync off? With it on, even when you go below 60fps, it lowers the framerate for some reason.

Crysis 1 was great for me, played like a charm, but Crysis Warhead I had issues with. The game's AI for some reason would become stupid and mindless in one spot, a spot where I have to finish in order to progress. I believe I needed another 10hrs to 15hrs of gameplay left to clear it, but it frustrated me, I packed it away for now.
Patches wouldn't help, and only a select few had the same issues as I had.

Crysis is a great game IMHO good story, good graphic's and good game play/re-playability. I had no issue's running it on my sys even with an OC'd e5200 :eek:

Strangely i preffered the DX9 mode it just seemed to run better overall, maybe i should try DX10 again now that i've upgraded my CPU?

For me the original Far Cry and Half life 2 are the epic! :respect:

I got the Max pack, which includes Warhead :toast:

I couldn't find V-sync in any of the game options, was looking after seeing the screen tearing in cut sceense.

Unless my memory is tricking me, it was in the system tab, right in the same place you choose the resolution and AA.

Of course I have v-svnc on...only peasants and overly competitive people game with V-sync off.

The point was this is a 5 year old game that my machine cant max due to shoddy coding and piss poor optimisation.
