On Board Audio & Sound Card?

Right now I have on board audio, due to a bad case design, my front audio ports take up the connection on the back of the mobo to work. My question is, if I put in a sound card will I be able to use both the onboard audio and the sound card togeather so I can plug in speakers and have the front audio ports working?

EX: plug the front audio wires into the on board, and my speakers into the sound card?

Or will there be a conflict between the two? Thanks for any help it is appreciated!
