I have an Asus ROG Crosshair VII Hero (WiFi); I was recently removing the rear audio cable and noticed the tip of the pin had come off. I can no longer plug a cable into the port due to the tip being stuck in there. If i plug my audio cable in to the front port on my case i get a warning from the audio driver (see attached). How should I go about (if possible) removing the tip of the broken audio plug, should I get a sound card to skip the onboard audio, or should I upgrade to a new board?

Thanks in advance.

Are you using speakers or headphones? Pictures of the stuck pin & port would be useful

Yes, the 3.5mm port.

Sadly i don't have the cable anymore, but it was the very tip before the 2-3 rings on the pin.

This is the best example i can show, the piece just before the first black ring is what is still inside the onboard port (the green one).

You might be able to push it out from the inside. If its in a plastic box drill a hole. Otherwise get a sound card

Had the same happen to me with a Soundblaster Live! card. I took the card out to remove the piece of plug with tweezers.

I'd like to know how on earth did you break a 3.5mm audio plugs tip off, I've used cables that were years old and never had that happen to me ever

Well, it was a Walmart brand; so workmanship was probably a factor. I usually use cables made by Monster.

Is this on speakers or headset?
