Only 8 GB RAM can be used out of 12. WIN7 64 Bit Ultimate

HWInfo agrees, I only have access to 8 of my 12 GB RAM. Any suggestions to get the last four working as well?

This is a pretty common failure on X58. Re-seat the CPU, check for bent pins, check that the CPU pads are clean, re-seat the RAM in a different configuration. If none of that does the trick then it's likely the board having problems. Usually doesn't affect the usability of the board but you're going to be stuck with dual-channel. Check your board's manual to see if you can move the third DIMM to the other channel and have a dual+single config to get your 12GB back. Memory performance will take a hit.

I forgot to mention thar all six slots are in use. 6x2, not 3x4. I can’t rule out that all slots are working but the “new” 3x2 was pullled from a working X58. I will leave it as it is, not that important since my 3900X will take it’s place shortly.

I'd just try re-seating the RAM mstenholm, sometimes that can not quite go in or like the others have mentioned, CPU re-seat. Does it show 12GB in the bios as well or does it show 8GB?
