See my system to the left.

I'm still on "stock" volts - 1.3v.
Idling around 22c, just a tad over room temperature.
Northbridge is sat happily on 39c.

I'm considering putting my spare 1GB of PC2-6400 in beside my current ram to give me 3GB's but it really is cheap 800MHz stuff so I can't push the FSB beyond 400MHz or 800 on the ram simply isn't gonna happen :(

What kind of voltage do you guys reckon i'll need for 3.6GHz?

try dropping the multi to 6 and seeing how high you can get the fsb befor shooting for a specific speed. settling for a good oc and knowing your max are completely different, know your max before settling.

Yeah, but as I said - i'd really like to keep the FSB around 400 or I can't use my other ram...

I'd do some testing benchmarks with the 2GB ram and a higher overclock versus 3GB at a lower OC. I think you'll find your system faster and smoother with th 2GB and a higher OC. I would guess you'll get stable at 3.6ghz at around 1.4-1.425v on that board, considering it has significant vdroop. At least my DS3R did.

Yeah, I just tried 425x8 and got a BSOD whilst booting Vista :(

I guess i'll leave it where is for the time being (can't really complain at the temps + stock voltage) and when it starts feeling slow i'll bump it some more ;)

I need 1.41v (Load in CPUZ/Speedfan) for 3.6Ghz(450x8) on my e6600, but each chip is going to be different - ie - some of the latter ones I heard required more voltage to oc. My board has the vdroop pencil mod, but before I did that, I had to set like 1.5v core in BIOS to be Orthos 24hrs stable (now only need 1.425v w/pencil mod).

purely the way my mind works this.. but having 1.5 volts while the system is doing nothing which drops to a needed 1.41 when the system is doing something dosnt seem much of a problem to me..

am i missing something here..???

Well, this Gigabyte board is nice, but it does have a significant vdroop. So the vcore ialways quite a bit lower than what you set it at, even at idle.

1.5v in BIOS would drop to 1.44v (CPUZ/Spdfn). Below this voltage would cause errors. After the pencil mod, I can set 1.425v in bios for a real (CPUZ) of 1.41 so doing a pencil mod made the voltage more stable and requiring a lower v. Lower voltage=less heat which (may)= longer life of the CPU.

thats not vdroop.. vdroop is a voltage drop off under load compared to idle.. u simple have a setting error.. ignore what u set go by what cpu-z tells u..

vdroop would be the difference between what cpu-z tell u at idle and what it tells u under load..

The vdroop on my board is 0.03v, drops from 1.31v to 1.28v at full load.
However the VDroop will increase with clockspeed and voltage increases.

I have a question for you, What is your ambient temperature in your room? to have a 22C idle, I dont get how thats possible because I've never really seen my proc go below 32C idle, its been down to 29 but that was because I just started my comp and my comp had been off all night and I had my window cracked open. Right now the average Idle temp is 34C. and because I'm using Opera and playing music ATM its idling at 37C, my processor is stock btw.

Do the Athlon 64 X2s run hot or somthing?

My Xigmatek is supposed to be better than your CNPS9500 so I dont know how you have such good temps, my ambient temperature is about 65-70F or 18-21C in my room.

Maby someone could help me out?:ohwell:
