At $7, I just bought two. Never have to write on the enclosure... just look in and see the drive being used.

Looks nice and agree about the usefulness of looking throgh the enclosure. Bet it gets scratched to sh*t.

Also, I haven't heard that brand name for at least 15 years and thought they'd disappeared. EDIT: the only product I had of theirs was a dialup modem which worked pretty well in its day. I think I even still have it somewhere.

I have a card reader from them, two external open usB 3.0 HDD trays (great for backups and then storing the hdd away), and a 5-bay external enclosure which vastly increased the capacity of my server.

Orico builds pretty good stuff, they just don’t produce anything they build for more than say, a year run. That 5 bay enclosure is especially good quality.

Worked on my desktop too but I didn't keep it connected for longer than accessing a file on it, but that's not a problem. This particular drive is just for testing and a glamour shot. What I had in mind when I bought the caddies are two 128GB SSDs about to come out of my wife's computer soon-ish.

Very easy to use given it's tool-less sliding cover. Also flimsy, but we expected that. I'm going to use this personally for the most part so it won't have to hold up to multiple people in a work environment.

I can tell you that 2.5" drive adapters work pretty reliably even on USB 2.0 ports, even though they are only 0.5A. I don't know if that applies to 7,200RPM drives, but all the 5,400RPM drives I have tried work just fine.

I'd be tempted to clearance buy an InvisibleShield or the like for a tablet, and cut it down to cover it....

Back on sale. Used one of these to swap in a SSD on my daughter's laptop. Worked perfectly and a lot faster than I expected. USB 3.0 port on a Dell.

Yeah, but that isn't a samsung connector, its the standard USB 3.0 Micro-B connector. Every 2.5" USB3.0 external hard drive I've ever bought has used the same connector.
