What one is better? i have Q6600

I have only used Prime95, but it got all 4 cores at 100% .... what more do you want?

(I also have a Q6600)

Better for what? For heating your quad and quick test stability try LinX/IBT.
For thorough testing prime95 Blend is OK for your quad. With Orthos you should run 2 instances to load all your 4 cores.

Prime95, Orthos doesn't support quad-cores natively. I use OCCT also.

I use Prime95 to test the cpu, and memtest86+ for the ram.

You could also check out IntelBurnTest which uses intel's 'linpack' test. It generates a LOT more heat than prime95, but will reliably tell you if your system is stable quickly if you can't be arsed to wait around for hours for P95.

Perhaps I have an old version, but in order to get both cores stressed on my Duo, I need to start at least two separate processes of prime95 running.

I was assuming for quad core, you'd need at least four?

the new prime95 does max out all 4 cores of my Q6600 in one process. might be you had the old one.

Use the second option in Prime95, the one that said maximum heat and power consume.

The new Prime95 supports multi-cores.

I use P95 for my testing. Havent tried OCCT but I have heard it is good.
