the links to the pics dont work in the opening post :O

i run my 3570K @ 4.2ghz. I prefer a lower OC and stability for World Community Grid, but 4.5 is about the golden spot on air cooling thats not crazy expensive or WC.

My 3570k was pulling 4.6ghz @ 1.300v with a max temp of 78. Now with the H100i and SP120 fan set up its 4.8ghz@1.288v (My system specs need updated.)and down to 38-45 on full load. I would highly recommend delidding the chip and changing the thermal compound between the die and the IHS, I seen a good temperature drop by doing this.

You should hopefully see the same sort of temperatures with the Noctua, did you go for the NH-D14?

You managed 1.232v on the stock fan? That's pretty incredible.

I have my chip down to 1.288v @ 4.8GHz now, the chip I received wasn't really a 'good' one.

Yup, the chip is to blame, tested it elsewhere.

That's grim, man. What cooling are you using and what temps are you getting under full load?

On the contrary... from all I've seen and read, that's a really good chip.

Try that with Haswelt

It's pulling a good core speed/voltage in my opinion but it was the heat issues that makes me think it wasn't a good chip. I can only get 4.8@1.288v now with it delidded, lapped and with a H100i with 4 Corsair SP120's on it in Push/Pull config. Before with my pervious cooler the temperatures where scary when it was at 4.6@1.300v.

Damn ... and I thought I had a bad sample ... I have very mild overclock but I was able to undervolt it. I have it at 40*100 with negative voltage offset so it goes up to 1.155 V at full load ... it helps keeping the temperatures down - not much tbh, I feel I'll have to delid it and change the TIM.
