Overheating and underperforming.

I bought a second hand Acer Nitro 5 with an I5 11400H with RTx 3060 6GB.
The laptop overheats and underperforming. SO I cleaned it and repaste it. The result is pretty much the same. After that I decided to raise my laptop by an inch. The temp is still pretty high but unlike before the clock speeds for both CPU and GPU is now ok.
Performance has increased. However, I'm still not satisfied because it's still not performing as I expected. I look up gameplay benchmark online and compare it to mine. There's like 40% less performance.
Any thoughts?

Try resetting the bios to default settings, also a clean fresh install of the operating system should solve most of the issues, make sure the power plan in Windows is on at least the balanced profile, power saving profiles could limit your hardware performance capabilities. Just to add, make sure the Nvidia gpu is being used and not the processor's onboard intel graphics.
