Ciao cari amici.

Hello dear friends.
I tried flashing the bios of my asus mining p104 4gb with the file uploaded to tpu, but it doesn't work.
Has anyone had the same problem with the same card?
Could anyone help me unlock this 4 to 8GB card?

The extra memory would need to be physically present on the card. You can't just download an extra 4GB of VRAM to the card.

Hi Sam,
Are you sure? I know that this card come from the factory with 8gb ram but only 4 are aviable and the other 4 are locked by bios. If you have other information, please could you share?

The best way to tell would be to take the cooler off to look at the memory chips just to be sure. You don't want to flash an 8GB BIOS onto a card without that much memory.

Thank you for your reply :). I’m absolutely sure the card has 8gb but only 4 aviable. I just would need to find the right bios to apply. I’m disperately looking for someone who solved the same problem.. due to YouTube is full of video describing this card mining 38mh/s or more, that means the cards were using 8 gb

The issue is that not all cards can be unlocked. I had nearly 100% success rate with Palit and Gigabyte P104-100, but ASUS and Zotac can be real pain in the ass.
What's interesting, is that Zotac did work, but the hashrate stayed at 25MH/s with very low memory controller usage (basically vBIOS crossflash did not do anything at all).
Which card do you have, and which BIOS did you try?

Hi Silentbogo,

Thank you for your answer.

I have a Asus mining 104-100 4gb. I just used the vBios posted here in TPU. I confirm you that the physical memory is 8gb but is locked by bios.
Please help me . Are five days I’m not speaking to find a solution

Have you tried the Asus GTX 1080 Founders Edition Bios?
That is as close to a reference Bios as you can get.

As I said before, some ASUS cards can't be flashed, period. That's why that BIOS doesn't work with your GPU.

H dear. I read that I could solve the problem using a programmator CH341a. Do someone knows This item? Do you think it could be the solution?

I don't have experience with a programmer or flashing, but I hope a solution is found as I have one of these GPUs that I would like to enable all 8GB on.

No. Just no. :banghead:
First of all, you are not listening, so this time I'll put it in bold and colorful letters: FLASHING 8GB DOES NOT WORK ON ALL P104-100 CARDS, ESPECIALLY[!!!] ASUS
Second of all, you will likely kill it with CH341a programmer. It's garbage, it does not support 1.8V TTL, and in some shitty revisions(like it could get any worse) it only has 5V TTL on data lines and not a whiff of protection (read - kills or corrupts low-voltage SPI flash).
Either use it as is, or sell and buy another one (preferably Palit or Gigabyte). Until then - don't bother and stop pursuing dead-end solutions.

I have a similar issue with the ASUS GeForce GT 520

NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database
"Unlike the fully unlocked GeForce GT 520 OEM, which uses the same GPU but has all 96 shaders enabled, NVIDIA has disabled some shading units on the GeForce GT 520 to reach the product's target shader count."

and always wondered how to enable all 96 shaders

Ciao! per flashare la p104 che hai devi usare questo bios 210804.rom usando questi parametri:

nvflash64 --protectoff

nvflash64 -6 210804.rom

una volta fatto riavvia il sistema.

Ciao

It's garbage, it does not support 1.8V TTL,
Slightly OT but:

It can with an adapter. I've been using mine with a 1.8v kit for years without issue, including on 1.8v target chips.

no it doesn't hold your hand, but it's a good cheap adapter in a pinch, I really would not call it "garbage." But it is pretty low rung.

Lol man , if u see that on tpu (card info) then its because thats how the card (gt 520) was made. its a chip limitation, and the maximum u can do is to flash the 520 oem bios + change the straps on the board. And YMMV cuz u never know what batch ur card is.

Just oc it, 1100mhz can be easily achieved with a 520. Put a fan onto it and u are done.
And btw, this is NOT RELATED to the OP's question. At all.

Hello dear friends.
I tried flashing the bios of my asus mining p104 4gb with the file uploaded to tpu, but it doesn't work.
Has anyone had the same problem with the same card?
Could anyone help me unlock this 4 to 8GB card?

Before programming ur vbios with a dodgy tool, i HIGHLY suggest to double and triple check the exact model of ur card (with pics if u mind), and the manufacturer of the memory. Also ur card might be a slightly different revision and IT MAY HAVE ONLY 4GB OF VRAM, so open it up, check the chips and google them.
