Hey guys just got a new rig put together, evreything seems to work fine until just after I post:
p5qpro
e8400
2x 2gb kingston hyx 8500
640g wd hdd
gamexstream 700w
hd4850
auzen prelude
so I set up my bios to boot from DVD drive, (not the ATAPI setting, but specific IDE dvd drive option), and pop in my windows vista boot disk. I get a please insert boot media request, and then told to press any key. I do, but nothing happens. Its not the standard "Press any key to boot from cd-rom drive" option. The dvd drive does appear to be trying to access the data (the light blinks) but then stops.
I've tried booting with other boot media (win xp)
my DVD drive is IDE-based, so I think my bios is reading it as a hard drive instead..
I've tried everything I can think of..my only thought is that I need a Sata dvd drive instead...which wont be here for another 5 days from newegg.
any thoughts?
