I would load a website then it would lock up because it wouldn't click on anything and I would know if has locked up plus if I clicked on anything else, it would say "not responding" then after a few seconds, it would be fine. Why is this happening?

I have similar with FF when CPU usage is near 100%, it freezes for a couple of seconds then continues.
Not an issue for me most of the time.

Websites locking up used to happen to me a lot in IE 11 and Windows 8.1. Its really nothing to worry about unless you keep having issues or got a virus or something.

Well it seems like running a defrag (Defraggler) has helped a lot. I don't understand though as I run one each week.

Typically when you see this kind of behavior when running something basic like a web browser it means you're low on RAM.
The system is dumping (paging) off onto the hard drive for several seconds which is when you get the locking up you describe.

Look at the hard drive activity light while it's locked up (if it starts happening again). If it's flashing like crazy or staying on solid that's an indication of the above.

Might want to check your memory usage in the Device Manager if you haven't yet.

Good to hear it's working though, hopefully it continues to do so!

You can look at your performance statistics when it locks up. Ctrl+shift+esc, performance tab, resource monitor. Some part of the computer is maxing out when it lags like that. CPU or HD are likely culprits.

I wouldn't immediately write this off as RAM, or HDD myself. First I would Do what someone mentioned above, and Clear Cache, Then look into what if any Addons You are running, or plugins, some of which can commonly cause FF to lock up, see if its a particular page, or if something is the same during each of the incident's, like a particular webpage. etc.. finally be sure theres no scans or anything running, that might be causing HDD loads to increase, Malware scanning Cant hurt either...if none of this works THEN I would startr to lean towards hardware possibilities.
