PC performance issues

My laptop's specs are: CPU:intel Core i7 8th generation
GPU:NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1050Ti
RAM Memory:8 GB
I installed Metro Exodus and I can barely run it with the graphics set on low and it still has lag.A friend of mine has a similar laptop and he is able to run the game on ultra graphics without any lag.Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my laptop?Thanks for answering me.

metro exodus on a gtx1050ti can run 1080p around 30-45fps average during gunfights it drops below 30
and this is on a desktop machine.

your laptop will struggle.. if you want more performance ... list your laptop model and see if we can find options for you to increase performance

okay so its an i7 8750h 6c/12t cpu
do you know if your gtx 1050 ti is a 2gb or 4gb? -- according to asus site theres 2gb or 4gb version
lastly was gonna recommend an external gpu enclosure but your laptop has no usb-c to connect.

if your laptop is the 2gb gtx 1050ti ver then theres only upgrading ram to a dual channel which might boost your fps by a little...
bottom line is your laptop is not ideal for these tripple a titles

Then either your friend is a liar, or you are misunderstanding the similarity of his laptop. A GTX 1080 may look similar in name to a GTX 1050Ti but it is more than 4x as powerful.

A 1050Ti can barely handle Metro Exodus at 1080p. I would recommend running it at 720p on low/minimum settings if you can - you should get playable framerates even if it doesn't look great.

Try checking your temperatures using HWMonitor when running the game. Maybe you have thermal throttling.

What is your framerate at the moment? Just want to make sure this thread is about a genuine performance issue or whether you're expecting more performance than a 1050Ti can actually deliver.

I am not sure how can I measure the framerate during the game.I guess it's somewhere around 20 but can go lower at times.

There's no built-in FPS counter in Metro Exodus that I'm aware of. You could install FRAPS though:

FRAPS show fps, record video game movies, screen capture software

Apparently FRAPS doesn't work in my game.And I set it to DX11
