Hey, just joined this in hopes someone can help me. To preface the post here are my specs : 6700xt, 5600, b550m pro vdh wifi, tx850m -

ever since i built my pc i have been getting restarts when opening almost any game, i have managed to make a few old titles like csgo & tf2 working by lowering the power limit & the gpu clock, on other games a little more intensive lowering power limit and clock simply turns an instant restart into 20 minutes then restart . Im not getting bluescreens, i just get the restart on its own - nothing notable in event viewer ( just kernel power 41) and before i finish ill add all parts were bought new & i have already reinstalled windows and ddu drivers,

thanks, ill do my best to answer any questions

You might have a faulty power supply, but I am not sure how to diagnose that.

My guess is also the PSU being the culprit.

OP can start testing with a known good and sufficient powered PSU and/or buy PSU tester from amazon.

I have a multimeter at home that would work right?

My first thoughts, although for a product for 7 years warranty it just seems unlikely but yeah it seems like i may have fell on the wrong end the the bell curve

I will quickly add this, before testing any games i was getting the same restarts running 3600mhz @ 3600 eith xmp except these were completely random i have tested both ram sticks and they both are fine, changing speed down to 3200 fixed this - not sure if this helps slim it down but i cant see it hurting either!

What brand and model of ram?

Try limiting power for both CPU and GPU, using a clean install of Windows, and reducing RAM clocks and loosening the timings.

Check in Windows Event Monitor for any errors that show up at the time of reboot.

Use HWiNFO to see what your voltages from your PSU are as you open your game.

Just a few things to try:)

I'm pretty sure you've got a dying PSU. The best way to know is to borrow a known good PSU and try it. If problem goes away then it's time to replace your PSU.

Klevv @ model is https://www.amazon.co.uk/KLEVV-DDR4...304&sprefix=16gb+ddr4+ram+3600,aps,155&sr=8-4

Maybe, odd it happens when its new but cant rule it out, im already looking at options to buy a new one with a good return policy @ sending this one back

Thanks for the levelled answer, to respond - ive run a hwmonitor during stress test, although im already a little out my depth & nothing seemed wrong in it but to be fair im not an expert, ill add the csv file of the test if it helps

HWmonitor has a bit of a bad reputation - grab HWiNFO and check the sensors screen. Open your game (one that doesn't crash instantly) and grab a screenshot of the voltages part.

Im pretty sure this is hwinfo built into this, let me know if you need any particular values not included in the photo - this was in power test

I was hoping for the PSU voltage. Maybe a line with 12v rail?

Never heard of it, I stick with Mushkin, Crucial, GSKill, TeamGroup, Geil for builds

Hwmonitor afaik is nlid

Just realised The csv i attatched is hwinfo & the 12 volt & 5 volt stayed over 12 & 5 before it stopped logging due to restart - what could this mean?

Nah, his memory should be fine. Even on the QVL for his motherboard.

Oh msi...

There is a bios update to improve memory compatibility.

There are specific models on the qvl, it is not all inclusive.

Following the model from the link op gave, there's the exact model number on MSI's QVL. I don't know if Klevv goes swapping their memory chips like Corsair, though.

Probably

Maybe to be honest i can live with the slightly slower slower speed of ram, my main concern was the restarts im not sure whwther they go hand in hand but im at a bit of a loss as my psu seems to supply 12 v maybe its still faulty though, not an expert myself & this is my first time

The PSU is within spec. It is not ruled out right now but let's move on to RAM. I would try lowering speeds to 2666 or 2133 - whichever is the JDEC profile for that kit. CPU-Z will list the profiles for you.

Just load "Setup defaults" in motherboard BIOS (update to the latest one if you have not yet) and try if everything is stable at those speeds.

Gotcha, will give it a go - was thinking maybe it could be a faulty motherboard not giving enough power to components, seemed like it would make sense
