Generally, by raising prices out of what most consumers would consider.

If they could disrupt just the slightest percent with alta vista, PC sales might trend up, too

One thing I don't get...how do supply chain disruptions lower demand? I have only taken econ 101 and 102.
Lower supply will increase prices so long as demand remains equal or rises. Demand falls as prices rise.

...but...that's not really what's happening here.
1) COVID triggered lockdowns.
2) lockdowns caused people to hoard money rather than spend it (also productivity dropped because people weren't producing goods/services for sale)
3) when people hoard cash, deflation ensues (prices drop) in order to entice people to spend
4) central banks responded to the deflation by pumping in cash ("M2 money supply," look it up) to encourage people to spend (this will come up again later)
5) flush with cash, people splurged on especially goods.
6) supply was depressed because of COVID lockdowns while demand was stupid high because it was raining money from nothing ("transitory" inflation)
7) 18+ months later, the new prices from #4 have propagated through the economy...Houston, we have inflation (it wasn't, in fact "transitory")
8) central banks start raising interest rates on debt to buy back the surplus cash and dispose of it
9) when central banks are catching a higher percent of flowing dollars, there's less to go around (both to earn and spend), this causes inflation (price growth) to slow (potentially even deflation)
10) when there's 10% less flowing dollars, you have a recession...Literally a few minutes ago:
11) recession means people generally only buy essentials and for most people, computers aren't one of them

TL;DR: Batton down the hatches; we're in for a wild ride. :(
