PCI-E 2.0, what does it bring

Yep, but I was wanting 16 x 4, when not crossfire and 8 x 8 when crossfired (or manual setting). But, it's much better than 16 x 4 always.

So you have the 8500 in the 2nd slot for Physx? Surely if your not using a bridge then slot one would retain 16x? IDK this is a new combination for me on a crossfire board.

regardless of whats in the slots and how they're connected, as soon as the second slot is in use the first slot drops down.

Even if you put a 1x sound card or SATA card in there, both slots would automatically drop to 8x.

It's too weak for PhysX, GTX 280 ran Cryostasis faster alone. 8600GT with double shaders would probably be ok. Just there to provide a DVI slot for my other display and let GTX 280 idle in 2D clocks and voltages.

(Actually there was only 2FPS difference with melting ice, but 8500 got framedrops to 20FPS or so, while 280 maintained 30+ constantly on the test location.)
