Greetings,

When I built my pc in 3-2008 I picked this card up and have been quite happy with it since. However there are a few questions and concerns I have with it. For instance I didn't realize it would be the redheaded stepchild to the AGP version. What I mean by this is I see alot of posts about the AGP verision but few about the PCI-E one. I've seen that this card..and most/if not all of the 3800's suffer from the fan issue. The issue as I know most know is that the fan doesn't speed up to cool the card until it's way past the best time to do so. So my question is that I know the 3870s have a bios fix..and also the non HD 3850s do as well. But does anyone know a fix for this type of 3850?

Thanks in advance,
main

The vast majority of HD3850s are PCI-E as the AGP versions were not released until much later. There are new bios versions available for the 3850 which keep it cooler - I have one on my GeCube and it idles at ~50*C with ~25*C ambient.

All of the links I've found for the bios versions have been for the non HD verisions..or the 256 mb type. Mine is the HD3850 512 OC edition

Relax, the fan profile they give is fine. Theres nothing wrong with the card running at 90C. If there was thered be loads failing all over the place.
