I have been advised that my low FPS issues are related to my eGPU not being able to provide enough juice to the GPU.

Here are my GPU-z results during Gears 5 benchmark:

Here are my GPU-z results using MSI Kombustor:

Here are the Gears 5 benchmark results:

Laptop: X1C7 i7-8665u (undervolted + does not thermal throttle)
eGPU: Razer Core-X with 650w PSU
GPU: MSI Gaming-X RTX2060 Super

I have tested 3 different NVidia GPU’s: 1660s, 2060s and 2070s.

Used Gears 5 for benchmarking and each card can do 60-63 Average FPS @ 3440x1440.

The 1660s can do a mix of mostly medium settings, with a few ultras and highs.

The 2060s can do everything maxed out on Ultra.

The 2070s only gives 2 FPS more over the 2060s on maxed out ultra settings.

The 1660s ran sweet and was a pretty silent card and its fans never ramped up.

The 2060s and 2070s cards are noisy as hell. Sounds like a launch Xbox 360.

Also fans spin up to max rpm for very long time when shutting down laptop (even when sat at the desktop for long time / not due to heavy gaming). Also fans spin up when laptop is powered on.

Is my PSU faulty in my eGPU?

What makes you think you have low FPS? These results look normal?

60FPS is good for an ultrabook + eGPU but there is hardly any performance /FPS gain between the GPU’s apart from noise, fanspeed and heat. I.e. +2 FPS improvement compared to the 2060s v 2070s. I guess I just expected more.

Someone asked me to get feedback on the perfcap readings. Do they look normal?

I.e. All green when stress testing with Kombuster but all colours when Gears 5 is playing.

Have you tried to increase power limit with MSI Afterburner?

Yes I have. I just increased the power and temp limit sliders to max and here are the results:

However Windows 10 has just updated with the "experience pack" and the FPS has suddenly dropped again by 15fps. My Ultimate Pefromance power management profile still exists but Max CPU and PCI Express are now missing again.

Current Win10 build is 2004 19041.450. I might role back the OS and turn off updates.

UPDATE: Bluetooth connected to Xbox wireless controller was the culprit of 15FPS performance drop.

How about those PerfCap Reason settings? Is it normal? Is my GPU getting enough juice from my 650w eGPU power supply.

Your egpu stuff is fine with that much power.
