I don't care who is a mod as long as they do the job right!

I think a mod needs to have spent time on the forum actually getting to know some of the members and prove that they would be an asset to the forum ;)

jc pointed out to me that the mods that are listed to mod the overclocking forum dont even overclock, whats up that?

So? They are not here to debate overclocking, but to keep hostile overclockers within the bounds of TPU's forum guidelines. I don't see your point.

What needs to be fixed? I think you and Pancho are blowing things up! Do you think that the Wizz doesn't know what needs to be done to his own site? I know I'd be insulted if I had people making petitions on how to run my website.

please do understand that w1zzard himself asked me to make this thread when i privately talked to him about this issue.

:wtf: who says you need to OC just to mod an OC forum sub-section? perhaps they want to keep their hardware stock so it will last longer, or they can't afford to replace components should they get torched, or just prefer things as-is.

there's nothing wrong with that as long as they are fair and equal in their modding actions

i think some people need to read the first post, and then come back, and see what the petition was and what its being interpreted as and where its going.

thermo himself says that he wouldn't mind extra help, and sure that the mods would be relieved of the amount of time that they are required to dedicate, because other mods are there to help out. zek, thermo, banjo, wazzle, these are the active mods i remember off the top of my head, these 4 people are really dedicated to the forums and spend long amounts of time on it trying to helpout. im sure that all 4 mods that i mentioned have lives and what not and cant manage the forum 24/7 and some extra help would be great. urlyin said that we cannot get mods cause apparently "the slots are full" and i was like... 3/4 of the mods that are filling up our slots hardly even post, let along mod the forums. and thats where the idea of this petition began. more then new mods, this is more about reorganizing the mod ranks and system. jc pointed out to me that the mods that are listed to mod the overclocking forum dont even overclock, whats up that?

I can see where your coming from and the points you raise are valid ones (to a degree).

I will say that in my short ~23 months here, I haven't had any issues with the way this forum is operated/moderated. This website was an "idea" at one point, and certain measures/discussions were thought up/proposed, similiar to the way a club, a forum, or perhaps even a small country are started. There is a reason for the hierarchy or "government" that is currently in place, obviously for several years it has worked. Of course, there have been improvements, and changes over time, or in other words, improvement. As long as there is improvement, then the system is productive. While I don't know every Mods' situation, i do know that the majority are mostly active (just because they don't have 15 PPD doesnt mean they are not active). But they are always there or contactable, if needed, if there is ever a crazy situation. Which is the only real problem that I see that ever occurs here. It almost always has the same root cause: drama. Think of it this way. Someone registers because they have a problem, then members help that person the best they can. Likewise, we have a problem, we do research and/or create a thread to get help/advise. That should be quick and painless, and very productive for the community. However, problems will arise every single time when someone flames, trolls, is disrespectful, plays the fanboy game, or violates any other rule of the forum, or anything else that doesn't involve helping your neighbor. As for people that must take a leave of absense, that's life. Leave that to the other mods/admin.

Edit: If the mods think they need more help, they will take care of it. Otherwise, it's their field, I'm just here to play ball.

Sorry for any wierd unfittng words i just wolk up.

But they have no experience doing it, so they don't have an interest in it, thus they wont be in that section.

K so we need a person who;

- Has spent time on this forum, knows the people and their needs
- Has a good idea of right and wrong
- Puts aside fanboism etc to mod the community right
- Can switch from normal user to mod at moments notice
- Is on the forum a good deal of time
- Is mature (age does not matter)
- Is nice and kind to all members
- Who understands, and is prepared to ban, even if it is their friend

Recently, many moderators(mods) on TechPowerup! forums (tpu) have been inactive and show low activity for the recent few months. And because of this, we have only a few active mods on tpu. We need to have new moderators and a new system in place. I propose that we have a system like this. The inactive mods like Dippy, and DOS need to be retired. They need to be contacted to see if they still want to be mods and if they do, retain the powers for future use. The supermods are fine the way they are, it's a good bunch working it.The normal section mods need to be revamped for better section useage. I have seen mods that rarely visit their sections, mainly because they have no experience in the section. We need more ambitious mods that LIKE the section that they are moderating
We have 13 normal moderators, and I can see only 4 or 5 that are active, that is very uneffective. Half of the time, you can't find a moderator when you need one, which is why I starting this petition. It is my belief that this will help the forums.

please reread the original petition and see my point before you try to bash me for the wrong reasons. this was simply about reforming the moderator system, and then bringing in new mods if required.

i supposs this thread is w1zz's way of seeing about the mods, he asked me to post this thread, and see what the reaction would be from the people, this thread probably would've helped him out more if you guys actually decided to read and understand the petition and sign it or disagree and state why rather then go on a " bash panchoman cause he wrote this cause he wants to be a mod" spree.

I'm assigned to the overclocking sub-forum. I know I don't hold any world records, but I do know how to overclock.

well see then that makes sense, i mean what are you going to do modding the overclocking forum if you dont know the slightest, i mean if you oc, then you can actually understand whats going on, and help and what not you know. see polaris knows what hes doing for ocing, and he mods that thread and he can actually help people with ocing.
