@lopez,I have a good gap between my heatsink and CPU as well, odd that MSI (looks like MSI boards?) would put the PCI-E slot so close to the CPU. Can you move the video card down to a lower X16 and still retain X16 speeds? Could be a solution for you.

@Delta, how do you like that cougar fan? is it the HP line?

It is an MSI board, and it's probably close because it's an mATX board. I did think about moving it down to the lower slot, but then the fans would be abot half an inch from the top of the PSU, which wouldn't help much either. Maybe I shoulda got the 120mm fan version, lol.

You have the same MoBo as me, the lower PCI-E 3.0 slot only has 8 electrical lanes wired in, so best to keep the GPU in the 1st slot. I had similar issues, MSI should have put a generic PCI-E X1 lane as the first slot, and then moved the x16 slot to the next one down, but that cuts out the possibility of Xfire/SLI with bigger cards. My eventual solution was just to buy an AIO, nowhere near as good as the Phanteks, but close enough. When the Cryorig R1 becomes available for retail I might jump on one of those. Hasn't been available for weeks though.

I had an AIO, but it crapped out after 5 months and it was loud as hell when used as an intake, which is why I got the air cooler. Once I, eventually, get a G10 bracket I can put my other AIO on it, then I won't have to worry much about some pressure against the backplate. Thermaltake instead of Corsair this time.

I'm also considering trimming the fan clips where they stick out to relieve some of the pressure.

I had considered the R1, but nobody is selling it yet. And I didn't feel like sitting with the intel box cooler anymore.

I like it, I do wish it had more static pressure, but they get the job done.

Zip tie "screws" might work better than trimming fan clip, you could consider that.

You'd have to explain a bit more what you mean. Just attach the fans with zip ties? I don't have any small enough to fit in the holes.
