Now i have a 720be and now the 955be...my 720 never passed 45 while running occt @ 3.6...now my 955 while occt (running now) has not pass 58 degrees @ 3.7...one thing i did notice between the two are the idle temps 720=27c, 955=38c.. the 720vcore was set to 1.35 and the 955 right now @1.43...all on the same setup of msi 70fx gd70, 4gb ddr3 1333, 2 4850s, 300gb velociraptor, 550 seasonic.

now i am wondering
1. are my temps too high on the 955?
2. do you guys think i have a bad cpu?
3. what thermal paste do you recommend?

by the way i have a zalman 9900 i tried using the paste that came with the cooler and i already tried artic silver 5...didnt too like it though as it is hard to put on evenly and hard to remove also, i didnt have any more of my noctua nt-h1...

i had also thought of going water cooling but because my temps with the 720 were acceptable i put it off...now im wondering if i should with these temps...any recommendation.

62c is the the limit for the 955 so you're ok but that doesn't leave you much head room if you want to overclock further. I just RMA'd my 955 because my temps were too high. (43c idle, 60+ load.) I submitted in a post a few days ago I met a lot of helpful people but we weren't able to isolate the problem. Have you checked stability at that speed using a lower voltage?

AOD doesn't display voltage correctly. CPU-Z is usually the correct one 99% of the time.

i have a spedo advance... two 120mm rear exhaust top 230mm also as an exhaust, side 230mm intake...front 120mm intake mainly for hdd ...backplate(behind mobo) 120mm... granted my 4850s are giving off some heat idle 43c and at load they are 49c using a couple scythe musashi's, they do go higher but the max i have seen after intensive gaming is about 55...

granted though my system is compartmentalized ...http://www.techpowerup.com/gallery/2081.html

I was starting to suspect so. I've never been impressed with the lack of positive pressure on the cpu. It served me well with my x2 5800 brisbane but this is my first phenom build. I was going to feel it out and upgrade as necessary. suggestions?

Sounds more than sufficient. I'm wondering if it's an issue with temp sensors in the MB.
