Connectivity made simple
The 328P6AUBREB is equipped with the extremely versatile connectivity of the latest-generation USB 3.1 Type C technology. Featuring a slim, reversible connector, USB-C enables users to charge, transfer audio and video signal, and connect to the Internet - all with one single cable. Hence, the monitor instantly becomes a hub and serves as a docking station, just without using that extra space on the desk. It also enables easy linking of multiple monitors, which is useful for graphic designers for example. Consequently, USB-C extends the limited connectivity of notebooks and allows users to transfer data securely at ultra-fast speeds. What hype? Philips themselves haven't had a decent monitor in ages and this is not even Philips anymore. The pricing is good (even if at 32" you'd expect a proper 4k) so it may be a decent buy. But hype? I don't think so.

i for one don't give a rat's toss about 4K and i certainly actively don't want it, this monitor looks vewy vewy promising and it's right in the resolution i want.

and at that price it's competitive with dell ultrasharps so yeah, i'm hyped about it

I'm thinking whoever buys into HDR now does it either for movies or content creation. So they'd want 4k.
And while the price may be competitive with UltraSharp, I'd be really, really, really surprised if the quality follows suit.

Philips is still a big player in the European market and they have continued to market monitors and 4K OLED TVs.

Just because they are out of the US market, douesn't mean anything.

The hype I am referring to is all the marketing jazz spouted in the initial post.... Sounds almost like an crafty infomercial rewritten for online uses...

And the point of origin does not concern me at all. I have purchased many thousands of dollars worth of things made in Europe and elsewhere, so if something has the specs and features I want and is noted as a quality product by way of reviews and tests, I will buy it, unless I can find a similar item made in the US...
