Which games and at what detail settings? The Witcher 2 vs. Call of Duty Black Ops makes a huge difference.

That's not going to help. You're going to have to be more specific as to what you want the GPU to be capable of before I personally give a suggestion :p

IMO best bang for buck in the UK right now over the gaming spectrum would be a ATI HD6850... great price, good performance and can play pretty much any game on the market in 1920x1080 in high details with a bit of AA (even crysis1&2)

For modern games pushing that, I would say a GeForce GTX 560Ti would be the absolute minimum. You're not going to be pushing that res, AA, and AF for modern games at that price.

If you've got $100, get the best card you can for $100, but don't expect it to perform like a card at twice its cost. Check out W1zz's reviews of cards, and look at games you plan on playing specifically. He pushes 4xAA on most of his higher resolution benchmarks. A GTX 460 768MB would be a good budget choice, and you might be able to get one used for around $100. Some modern games won't handle that res and aftereffects on that card, though.

Also, how is a GPU for 1080P 4xAA 16xAF "basic?" A card able to push that is going to be a mainstream gaming GPU, not basic.

Well if our trying to stay as close to $100 then one of these would do out of all of those the most powerful is the ATI Radeon HD 5830

That's what I was thinking.

16XAF at HD would gobble up the VRAM.
And then the 4XAA would put some strain on the GPU.

Playable in most games with a lot of eye candy I'm thinking the 460.

It's been the most bang for buck for quite a while as it is still available new but still maybe over the $100 price tag you are trying to keep below.
Just I often see the 460 with one of those coolers which cool down the GPU enough but expel hot hair all around the case instead of out so decent exhaust of hot air from the case would be required.

6670 is not going to be enough horsepower for 1080p unless you turn off the AF and AA. Even a 6850 is not enough for that resolution and AA/AF level if you are playing demanding games like Metro 2033 or Crysis. If you are playing older games or games like CoD:MW that are not demanding, then a 6850 is probably plenty. If your budget is $100, then your framerate is going to be quite low in any demanding game at that resolution.

well the 5770 is faster then the 6750 you linked earlier trt740

the 6750 is a rebrand of the 5750 which is on par with the 4850 which is only on par with the 8800GTX essentially meaning a 6750 is just the typical card we saw 5 years ago performance wise just new features

your going to need to find

Sapphire 5850 xtreme they can be had for $140 they performance better then the 6850 and there cheaper then a 6850

5830 if you need to save a few more $$

GTX 460 768mb or GTX 460 1gb forget the 460 1gb SE its crap gets its ass kicked by AMD at the same price point

There are better cards, the 460 are great budget cards. Even the GTX 550 is $128 and would be perfect. EDIT: Screw the 550, it sucks when compared to the 460.

No. 5830 seems good it you can get it for cheap.

The 5830 isn't that much better than the 5770, the 5770 seems to be only 10fps lower than the 5830 in nearly every game(if not less).

true but a 5830 will overclock and become on par with a 5850 where as a 5770 runs out of steam do to the 128 bit bus ;)

eitherway all those suggestions suck when compared to a Sapphire 5850 Xtreme that usually retails for $144 and will hit 850 core at which point its pretty much the best bang for buck at the low end price range.

There is no card at 100 that can play modern games at 1080p with 4AA and 16AF with over 40 FPS. But, yeah above that price point the minimum would be that 5850a GTX460 or if you can find that 5850 xtreme would be great.

I'd say like the others have said. Any 5850 or 460 branded card will do, given you can find it at around $100. I would sell you mine, but I plan on keeping it until 7k series or 6xx comes out :p
My E8400 @ 3.33 with my 5850 @ 800/1150 does Metro 2033 pretty dam decent with most of the eye candy turned on @ 1080p, no AA or AF on, but I can easily turn down some other things to substitute for that and it still looks beautiful.
