I have centurylink DSL and recently my ping In game has been spiking to around 500 for just a second or 2 then dropping back down to normal but repeats every ~30 seconds. This only happens during random times during the day and happens for about 30 minutes then gets better. I have centurylink’s C4000LG router and got it replaced today which didn’t help anything. I am connected via Ethernet to my Xbox but also see the spikes on my pc using cmd to ping google.
Any fixes? I’d be happy to answer any questions

Check to see if your router is getting hot. Had same issue with their equipment a few years ago and a USB fan solved it.

disable wifi and connect just the PC
This lets you narrow it to the PC, and the modem/router

then try something like a bootable linux install, and do the same - this rules out software being the issue

Then, you try another modem/router

You're on DSL so it could also be noise on the line itself, so you'd have to investigate all the sockets, disconnect any phones or other devices, and then get someone out to check the actual wiring from the pit to your wall socket, to make sure theres no splits, joins, or half a kilometer of unused wire spooled up screwing with things

copper is a sensitive bitch
