Planning on buying a GeForce 8600 GTS Video Card

Hello folks im new to these forums well i just found them and i will probably be posting alot more.
i have a few questions
i am building a new computer and im planning on buying a GeForce 8600 GTS Video Card i am a gammer (MMORPG / FPS) and im wondering if these games will run on this graphics card and how well.

Call of duty 4
Assassins creed
crysis
Bio Shock

my PC specs i am building will be

-Intel Core 2 Duo Proccecor 2.20 ghz
-2 Gig DDR2 RAM
-EVGA GeForce 8600 GTS Video Card - 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express, SLI Ready, Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card

Yea go from the evga 8800gs or the 9600gt...double the performance to a 8600gts

and 4GB of RAM would be a good idea for Assassins creed

you can get a 4GB kit (2 x 2GB) for around $75 if you go with a brand like A-DATA

the 8600GTS will RUN all of those games, but crysis and assasins creed are two of the most demanding games on the market.

I suggest the 9600GT along with everyone else, its about the same price and easily twice as fast.

Hop it down to an 8600GT and overclock it. Save you even a couple more bucks. But hey, if you got the $$, an 8800GS/HD3850 really isn't much more (dependent on your locale).

You would do better with a HD 3850, 8800gs, 9600gt, or HD 3870. Depending on your budget. These cards run Crysis to alright levels.

With a 8600gts, Crysis won't run to well.

well, if they put Shadow on Low, Shaders on Medium, and run it in DX9 they will have no problem running Crysis with any of those cards

first off, in any case the 8600GTS is not the card of choice.

if you want 8600GTS level of performance get the much cheaper 8600GT and overclock it to GTS speeds, which should be a sinch. since it is considerably cheaper and can be easily modified to exceed an 8600GTS's performance, it is a viable choice.

but if you want to spend the same amount of money as you would have on an 8600GTS, then the 2 cards to choose from are the 9600GT and 8800GS, they vary a little in different ways, but the relative performance from both is nye on identical.

XFX 8800GS is $119 AR on NCIX.com (CDN) and $109 AR Newegg (USD) most of 86x or G84 are over $100 on either side of the border and I have no explanation why.

I can't believe people recommend a 8600 when there's 9600GT available which costs ~same and performs systematically over twice as any 8600-serie card.

it all depends on pricing, here in aus, an 8600GT XXX edition is $120 AUD, and a 8800GS/9600GT/HD3850 are all over $240.

it all depends on the pricing imo, so at least here where i am the 8600GT is a viable choice, as the others may be twice as fast, but they are also twice as much.

Yeah that is pretty good deal. Congrats on finding it. Altho, a little note, you may not be able to overclock on that board.

I just figured out that it is a little cheaper ($20) and your also getting an SLi capable motherboard with more than likely "middle of the road" overclock options.
