Playing around with the 5600x on stock cooler

I'm waiting for My EK water cooling stuff and a Corsair 4000D. I just couldn't let this 5600x and Asus ROG Strix B550 just sit in the box any longer, so I broke out the open bench and played around with just the stock cooler for an hour or so. Not too shabby, Eh?

Not bad at all with that wraith stealth stock cooler. Did you tweak anything in bios? I can see max power consumption reaching around 90W and I was under the impression that 5600Xs have around 75-76W max power draw at stock boost settings (PBO auto/disabled).

I don't care for software overclocking at all, so I don't use Ryzen Master. Just another middleman. Bios only. PBO disabled. Last night I tweaked the memory further and got 4000 stable with FCLK 1:1. 16-19-19-39. Tonight, I may put some better thermal paste on that Wraith and see if I can get 4.5-4.6 stable on the stock cooler. I'll post some screen shots this evening either way.

My EK stuff came yesterday, so now I'm just waiting on the case so I can really see what this chip is capable of. I think in the coming weeks I'm going to do some benchmark comparison between PBO and manual overclocking that's NOT from a gaming perspective.

I guess that Curve Optimizer is more interesting than static OC...
