PlayStation 2 CD not running ( Solved )

Hi
sorry for bad English

The problem start when I tried to clean Laser (No CD read)

So I take it off and then I clean it

But
The result : CD not running> I mean that circle where i put CD it's not work. So CD stop at all.

I don't know where is the problem. Every thing looks in its place.

Every thing else works good such main menu, memory...

I buy new Laser but problem still.

Thanks in adv :)

Check your ribbon cables, make sure none of the connectors are loose. Best bet, purchase a new console.

purchase a new console !!! Oh bro new console mean 140$. It's expensive in my region

by the way problem solved, CD running. I forgotten some screw that held Laser :D

but still no "Read Error" or " Red Screen" .. clean Laser was useless.

So I buy new Laser form E-bay but I can't make the CD turn

Is there something that should I do. Such installation driver or change option.

Thank you very much

You need to desolder this. I have fixed tons of ps2 and this step is required.

I know that it doesn't help solve the problem, but you can use the PC(in your specs) to run a decent PS2 emulator. put your discs and voila!

Yeah except it's not the same and a bad advice. Seriously it is.

If its expensive to get another PS2, just consider another console eg if i were you id look at a PS3/XBox360 or wait next gen for PS4/XBox720, Wii U is already out too.

its not worth the trouble at this point, unless you just want it running and not for games, games have advanced so much since PS2.

Does the laser come on and disk not spin?
Or Is it not doing anything?

If it is not doing anything then its likely that one of the switches for the tray or the door is not being tripped correctly.

If the laser is on and the disc dose not spin then its is a loose/broken cable or something else needs replacing too.

Make sure that anti-static point is cleaned up proper, not even sure what would happen if you powered on with the point intact:twitch:
Put the console in a dark room with no disk and the cover off. The console should:
1. Power on and the laser assembly should return to the center of the disc area(if not already there)
2. The laser should turn on (should see a very faint red dot) and the lense should bob up and down a few times.
3. The laser should power off because disc was not found.
If it does all this that rules out problems with drive controller and tray switches/ laser return switch.
Of course this all assumes you hooked up all the ribbons after you replaced the laser.

Is this the thin ps2? I have had one for quite some time. It has taken some damage that would have totaled a car, and still working just fine.
