Recently I've bought a 27" LG 2K 144Hz (IPS) monitor. But since I've used 21,5" 1080p monitor before, this monitor has only marginally clear display than the old one. I can now return the monitor and get the 27" LG 4K 60Hz for the same price. What would you do if you were me?
Ps. I use the computer mostly for web browsing, watching movies, and playing F1 and Need for Speed.
Here, how it looks like:

Stick to the current one, going back to 60 Hz is pointless.

I would get the 4K monitor; I'm a resolution fiend.

If you play fast paced games, then the 1440p/144hz is the right one for you. For racing games such as the ones you mentioned, 60hz is sufficient, however, your GPU (1660?) doesn't have enough juice for properly playing at 4K.

I would stick with the 2k, you need a powerful gpu like 3080 3090 to have smooth gaming in 4k.

There really is no right or wrong; life is more subtle that that.

I delight in retina screens, but it is not for everyone.

The jump from 1440p to 4K is barely noticeable whereas the jump from 60 to 144 Hz is like night and day. They aren't even in the same universe when it comes to smoothness. This is, of course, noticeable right away even on the desktop and is especially obvious while you're browsing the web.

While it's true that the games you play aren't particularly demanding, that might change in the near future, and I'm sure you know how expensive graphics cards are. There's no point, man. Keep your current monitor.

Thanks for this beautiful explanation.
