post your 2005 score that will tell us if your machine is as it should be..

i think in truth u are just expecting your mid range grfx card to perfrom better than it should.. and being as u havnt upgraded your grfx crd u are still getting same results..

buying a super machine and then bunging a mid range grfx card in it dosnt provide much of a gaming improvement..

trog

ps.. 20 fps, average 45, maximum 96.. jerky dude jerky..

true. my machine may be ok after all, i just bought the 7600gt becuase people kept advising to get that for now untill the dx10 cards are out then buy one of those. Im definatly sure that theres a problem with dawn of war though. im totaly convinced of it. It has had the same stutter even on the 7900gt which i bought (special gainward agp version) for my old machine, which i then sold on ebay cos i thought that it hadnt solved the problem. Wheras when the game was first released a couple of years ago it was smooth on my 9800 pro....so im pretty confused  anyway, thanks a lot for all the help. ill post my 3d mark scores, i downloaded 3d mark 06 should i get 05 instead?

just wish i could play dawn of war properly as the new expansion is about to be released and ive been dreaming of playing it again for ages, but at the moment the performance is to annoying to even bother. ill just explain that it seems pretty smooth untill you start to scroll around the map and over units/buildings and then it starts stuttering and missing out frames. And all this is when thers not a lot going on (as in not a huge 8 player internet battle)

yeah i tried that. i have a question. when on a website such as this one http://xtreview.com/review63.htm if you click your middle mouse button in so that you get the scroll when you move the cursor up or down, and get it to scroll slowly, then does the speed stay constant all the way down the page even though theres loads of differnt images? cos on my comp the images flicker a little bit and are slightly juddery when scrolling slowly on this page and similar pages, and the full motion is not smooth like it would be if the page had text only on it. Is this normal?

Ha ha !!! This one is DEAD SIMPLE. The give away is that the problem exists only when trying to "mouse move". If this occured at other times, or with keyboard only move, then you might have a heat problem on the CPU.

What has happened is that your USB mouse is "falling asleep". It takes about 0.5-1.0 sec to wake up. It happened to one of my mouses too. Basically either the USB-correspodence or the mouse-optics have failed. Swap the mouse and you will be OK.

Sorry, but
had formated about 10 times with differnt combinations of monitor/mouse/keyboard
can't be true!!! You didn't change the mouse!

Make sure your BIOS retains power to USB ports.
