Plz recomend program to recover deleted files.

I've been having problems with my second hard drive for the past few days. when i try to open it my computer i would get an error message saying that H:\ is not accessible, its corrupted, unreadable, blah blah, blah. I assumed that my HD or the SATA cable died so i swapped the cable but that didn't help. In any case, someone i know was over today and i told him about the problem i'm having, he started playing around with the hard drive options and nothing would work except the format option. He did a quick format and now i'm finally able to access the drive but there is nothing there. He said that there are programs that can help recover data after quick format but couldn't name anything specific, thats why i'm here asking if someone could recomend something.

All are freeware I think. I am not sure if they'd work on a formatted drive... but you can always try?

its a shame it was formatted because it was prob just a bad sector anyways the best in that sort of stuation i have found is acronis or recover my files... Ontrack is another one but does not seem as effective.

tbh they are all expensive.

Wow, didn't know about this, its just at the time format is the only thing that worked i couldn't even do error-checking to fix bad sectors

Oh man! I cant believe you let your "friend" do a format on the drive. That's aweful. Anyway, can you remember if your drive was originally FAT or NTFS formatted?

As i explained above, unfortunately, there was no other way to get into thr H: drive, quick format was all that could be done. Anyway, i got the files recovered using Handy Recovery, other utilities were not as good, most were not able to find much at all. Special thanx to EastCoasthandle for the suggestion.

What's the brand of the HDD? If it's seagate, then d/l seatools for windows or DOS.
