Points...

I just had a general question about this sites points system. I have a 5 point infraction that I'm gettning back in 8 days. What do the points do, or what are they for?

Afaik infractions deduct from your power, like you may not be able to change your avatar for example, or post a signature or send pm's or whatever. I've seen that on other forums but obviously what the points do here could be entirely different.

Where does one go to see infractions?
Probably I'm missing out something but I don't see erocker's infractions, nor do I have the possibility to check whether I or other members got any?

I have seen them on other vbulletin type forums though.

If you had points it would show on your screen (click on name and goto your own page).

I believe a total of 25 points will get you removed altogether from all privilages @ TPU...Better to ask a mod erocker..as they could explain in more detail if needed

@ Blackpanther...you can only see your own infractions...unless said member is banned!

i have one to it sucks. i didn't know i was doing anything wrong lol. But when you get one you will receive a private message from a mod or admin.

Not always... my second one I didnt even know about until I looked at my own profile.

its like the points system for driving .. if you mass up too many infraction points you may no longer post or will get banned.

Like driving infractions (at least here in the UK) do they get reduced after a period of time? I can't wait for my points on my bike to reduce (3 years ). I've already got 3 points- only 3 more and I'm off the road I'm guessing from the OP that you do get them removed after a time. Or have I misunderstood?

YEs, the mods can set them to expire at certain times.

Thanks to pt's impersonation Zek had to ban with no reason for an hour 25pts there

I also once got 15pts but it was reversed because it was due to an honest mistake from my part..

In short, I learned a very valuable lesson that night back in September 06. People CAN change their identities in MSN, and it's really hard to tell in MSN chatroom.

0 points = Warning (No loss of privileges, and does not count toward bans or any loss of privilege.)

5 points = Infraction (No loss of privileges)

15 points = results in loss of posting privilege (can be cumulative, from previous infractions, or all at once) PMs are still allowed, the forum may be viewed, and UserCP may be accessed.

25 points = Loss of all privileges (No Posting, No access to UserCP, no PMs and the forum may not be viewed) This is a Ban from the forums.

Length that points last is typically three months. They can be issued for longer or shorter at the moderators discretion.
