I've always sided with AMD, and I root for them, but currently my next system will be Intel, although I can't build it for a long time, so I'm gunning for AMD to change my mind by then.

: Im an AMD fanboy. But right now, Intel is kicking our ass in the chips. The only thing really going good is price for AMD. The X2 3600 is like 65 bucks at the egg. the biostar tforce 550 is like 75 bucks, so that is a good combo.

Intel is currently king of the road on all things cpu. Hell they dont even have the integrated memory chip on the C2D series and they still rock. I hate to say it, but Id go Intel for performance or AMD if you want a great cpu with little price

Intel's always been king of road for the last 15 years at least. It's market position just means it's always making more money than AMD, regardless of performance.

intel dropped the ball on the p4's mate and everyone knows they sucked ass big time the athlon ruled for a good few years. to deny it is ignorant or fanboyism of the worse kind

but they have defo come bk into the game with the c2d and thats a fact amd cant touch intel atm for sheer perf and overclockability and with the new amd lineup just around the corner that may change

or it could be another case of the ati vs nvidia syndrome where the ati fanbois where saying how much the hd2900 was gonna pwn the 8800 omg!!!! when it came out and upto now that hasnt happened and the wait for the 2900 has become some what of an anticlimax :eek:

(although dx10 perf is still to name the king of the grfx chips RD2 anyone ?)

AMD. HyperTransport along with other innovations (doubling the number of processor registers, increasing the size of DDR registers etc). Though I'm using an Intel processor atm.

Lets not forget that the K5 was a RISC processor with an x86 compatibility layer added, and yet outperformed Intel's processors. These guys know how to design processors

It's a pitty they don't have the string pulling ability and budget to match.

Well it depends, if you want the cheapest possible and don't care about performance, then go AMD. If you want performance, AMD is garbage at the moment. Any core 2 duo can spank any AMD processor on the market if you overclock them both. This is coming from someone who hated intel for the entire netburst era. I don't care if Barcelona will be great. It isn't out yet, so I don't care if it can calculate pi to 1 million in one millisecond while maintaining a TDP of 1w, because it is future tech. Now what do we know about comparing future tech to current tech?

AMD, I don't care who has the better tech out at the time, I just love AMD

AMD just has a cleaner feel to it, in my opinion. And there's a nice long warranty on everything. And the heatsinks are, you know, quiet
