Guys, should i get portal 2 or should i buy portal first? because i havent played portal ever in my life

would it make any difference in story?
please help thanks

IDK about Portal 2, the game has not been released yet. However, I would recommend Portal to anyone any day, that game is short and fun.

If you had preordered Portal 2, you would have gotten 1.

You can play 2 without having played 1, but I would suggest getting 1 first, simply because you will want to play both of them, and going back from 2 to 1 would most likely suck because of the graphics.

You should definitely get Portal 1 before Portal 2, as P2's story continues directly from where Portal 1 ends.

As for buying Portal 1, everyone that preordered Portal 2 received a key for free Portal 1 so maybe you could ask people for it?

And, both games are purely awesome :toast:

Portal 2 was released at least 6 hours ago, maybe earlier (that's when I woke up and found out that it has unlocked

please make threads in the right forum sections. seriously.

as to the games, play portal 1 first. portal 2's gameplay is based on 1, with extras... if you play 2 first, you'll feel like the first is simple and boring when you go back to it. storyline doesnt really matter, its all about the puzzles and game mechanics as they get revealed.

That was pre-order only and only on Steam. I pre-ordered from Best Buy (they had it for $34.99 and then sent me $10 online coupon too!) and I didn't get a copy of the original Portal with it. It's not included in the retail box or anything like and when I activated it on Steam, I didn't get an extra copy on there either.

In any case, play them in order for all the above-mentioned reasons

Does portal cost money again? last i checked it was free but that was when they came out with steam for mac, got my copy for free. and yes totally play portal 1 then 2 it will help you understand the humor and portal 2 rocks

I finished Portal 2 earlier today and I can say with complete confidence that it is in your best interest to play Portal first. It will get you familiar with the usage of portals for problem solving and provide you with a bit of story that will be referenced frequently in Portal 2.

Also, I recommend reading the Portal 2 comic (after finishing Portal and before playing Portal 2).
