First of all coolant changed color.
It was clear but after adding ek biocide it wasnt perfect clear. Anyhow now is greener.
20191130_224638.jpg

If You can see there on the cpu block;
top and bottom of jet plate is showing a bit of dark stuff on the fins.

Something is defo up.
In Japan its hard to get actual distilled water.
Instead local custom loop shop told me any "purified" water with inhibitor will do.
Apparently not.

I was about to install my 3950x but guess I have flush my system first and invest into premixed 1L coolant I guess? Will Corsair one do?
Sigh.

Because you say after just 2 weeks you had this, I had the same or similar.... after short time:
I replaced clear coolant with colored, all EK, and before that I rinsed with vinegar and then destilled. Clear coolant is quite neutral chemically, but EK told me that colored coolant interacts badly with any remains of vinegar... I ended up with greasy shit inside the circuit. Don't know if that's your case.
So now I only buy clear branded coolant (EK or others concentrated or premix).
I just exchanged all the liquid and I am watching closely if all is good. Heat+ions+chemicals can produce weird effects... Take care.

Maybe the second one it says it's for car battery,
first one is pretty much what I used "seirei sui" that's no good.

Well it was first loop, so I rinsed radiator with preboiled water to remove possible particles. I didn't wash CPU and GPU blocks tho... Anyhow, purified water with do biocide that's it.

That's okay. But a big dirt particle is always easier to remove than a chemical biological issue. Many luck mate!

Ever since Jay had problems with a coolant that literally took the chrome off of (name withheld) fittings, I have been thinking about it and recently ran across this from Optimus Water Cooling:

CORROSION-PROOF NICKEL PLATING
PHOSPHORUS ELECTROLESS PLATING
BANISHING FLAKY ELECTROPLATED NICKEL
Flaking, disintegrating nickel is a widespread problem in liquid cooling. After all, nickel PC fittings and blocks prohibit use with plain water, or you void the warranty. Instead, you must use anti-corrosive fluids to protect nickel components Why? Because the industry standard electroplated (aka electrolytic) nickel is a cosmetic nickel finish that isn't meant to be used in liquid applications. Often called chrome or shiny nickel, electroplated nickel is cost effective and looks good.
Unfortunately, water, anti-fungals and fancy fluids, including opaques, will rapidly strip electroplated nickel. The gunk that will appear in block fins isn't just broken down fluid, it's often disintegrated nickel, paint and cheap plastics. If this seems crazy, it is. After all, the cheapest home faucet can handle tap water, so why can’t expensive PC fittings survive basic H2O?

No problems with my EK stuff. Haven't drained my loop in a year or more after putting distilled in it. I also ran it first per there instructions while I was building it.

Maybe its a combination of non-distilled and not doing a flush prior to perm assembly?

At this point im not sure it matters. The manufacturer sure doesn't anyway.

Just drain the loop, clean rinse and refill with distilled. If its that hard to get just get some normal coolant.

guess so, but I don't think that just rinsing is enough for CPU block. It clearly has som black gunk in-between find so I will have to get that out somehow...

Like I said in this case you will have to clean then rinse then put proper fluid in.

Try vinegar to see if it will break some if it away.

As long as he doesnt use acrylic in the system.
Isn't reservoir made of acrylic? Then I guess I should avoid rubbing alcohol.
As for vinegar, use it as a solution or as is? It's okay as long I use clear coolant right?

Using clear tubing... that actually promotes growth unless you use a biocide.
I did put ek concentrate in it.

my waterblocks are copper but fittings are nickel plated right? is it okay if I use vinegar ?
I mean I will rinse vinegar off before assembling my loop, just that some of it will stay regardless and if reaction with nickel is volatile wont I cause what Im trying to prevent?

You might not have enough biocide then.

Vinegar won't hurt the plating unless you leave it in there for hours. After you rinse/clean your blocks/fittings/etc, you will want do 1 maybe 2 fills, ie fill run loop for say 20 minutes, flush, refill, flush.

I must admit I've never really put anything in my water loops at all, but never had any issues at all either. I just use distilled water and that's it :) I use a cheaper tubing which I need to swap out but that just tends to give me a little bit of plastiser in the fittings that I've noticed.

A description of what the loop consists of would be far more useful than the pics.

1. What are the components ? ... specific model numbers, sizes etc.

2. What preparation was done ? How were the components cleaned ? What you will need will depend on what the components are. Some rads(i.e. Alphacool) require more cleaning than others.

3. What coolant, specifically was used ? Distilled Water is not a, acceptable coolant without corrosion inhibitors and algaecides.

4. At this point, I'd disassemble and clean with the Mayhems Blitz Kit.

5. If you are using EK products, best bet from a customer service and warranty standpoint will be Ek coolants

1)
- Universal CPU water block: EK-Supremacy EVO (incl. LED diode, mounting- & thermal material)
- Radiator: EK-CoolStream PE 360 (Triple)
- Radiator size: 400 x 130 x 38mm (L x W x H)
- Water pump-reservoir combo: EK-XRES 140 Revo D5 PWM (incl. pump)
- Tubing: EK-DuraClear 9,5/12,7mm (3/8'' - 1/2'') (2 meters)
- Compression fittings: EK-ACF Fitting 10/13mm (3/8'' - 1/2'') - G1/4 Nickel (6 pcs)
- Coolant concentrate: EK-CryoFuel Clear Concentrate (100mL; for 1L of coolant)

2)
I flushed rad several times with preboiled water to get possible metal particles and for last flush I used distilled water.

3)
"Purified" water with ek cryo fuel.
There is a problem with properly distilled water here, ppl drink it so its hard to buy lol.

4)
Id have to order from abroad. Its not available here (Japan).

5)
Only EK coolant sold in Japan is 100 ml concentrate.
Buying 1L of liquid could be difficult (unless its sent on a cargo ship rather than plane)

So far I cleaned said cpu block with vinegar and rinse several times with distilled water before reassembling.
I changed all soft tubing for new one.
I left the loop to test run with just distilled water to hopefully get out any stuff that couldve been leftover.
Tonight I will refill it with premixed Thermaltake T1000 clear coolant.

galvanic corrosion? it happens when You use both aluminium parts and copper parts.
its not the case here 100%.
rad, blocks are made out of copper.
fittings are nickel plated.

yeah, proper distilled.
asians being crazy trying to drink distilled water make it impossible to get in Japan.
Actually never tried to get it in like gas station ir something. You need it for car batteries after all.

you could make your own with a pressurecooker and some copper pipe mate theres loads of ways on the net.
on second thoughts id check if it legal in japan to distill some countrys don't allow it. when I was in uni in the late 70s we would make vodka the same way :) .

me to ive only ever used distilled water the same stuff as used to top batterys up and never had any problems but saying that ive never mixed my copper and aluminium parts.
Did you use clear tubing? Clear tubing lets light in. Let light in and stuff will grow. Mother nature pwns all.
