Paradox Interactive has released some screenshots of what is either a VTM remake or a sequel to it. The game will be unveiled in 3 days. Here are some screenshots and artwork:

Yes, apparently Paradox bought White Wolf and all of it's properties in 2015.

Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been officially announced. It will be a direct sequel to the first Bloodlines. It will take place in Seattle. Possibly it will get some ray tracing elements. It's scheduled for release in Q1 2020. Also it will be on GOG on release.

I really hope they don't waste their time on that. This game will live or die on content (and its name sake will be very difficult to live up to). Pretty trash is still trash. I'd be perfectly happy if it looks like the original, plays like the original, and faithfully expands on the original. I played the original just a few months ago and the game left me very satisfied despite being older than Half Life 2.

That said, we know virtually nothing about the gameplay of the game. For all we know, it might just be a linear combat game which will grossly disappoint.

I suspect Hardsuit Labs will feel obligated to put a lot of work into the visuals. That seems to be very important from what I've seen gamers discussing these days. It will be the first thing that gamers will complain about if it's not up to today's standards. I feel the same way as you about it. If it looks decent and expands on the first game then that is more important to me.

I remember the first time I played VTMB. I was put off by the clunky combat and some of the visuals looked unfinished but as I played along I soon discovered that I was having a heck of a lot of fun and nothing else really mattered. There is a lot of content and story in that game and I would recommend it to anyone today.

btw VTMB1 and HL2 were released on the same day and it was the reason Troika rushed the game out too early before it was really ready. They didn't want HL2 to be the first major game to use the Source engine.

I never played as a Nosferatu or a Malkavian (the crazy vampires). Usually I played as a Ventrue.

Will see next year I guess.

It being available on GOG has my attention, though I wouldn't discount EGS buying exclusivity before release.

First Master Chief, then Bloodlines 2, now I just need Valve to announce HL3, maybe with a Q1 2020 release date.

Backwards: VTMB was done months before HL2 but Valve forbid releasing VTMB before HL2 because HL2 was to be Source's big debut. Because the games launched on the same day as a result of that, VTMB sold poorly since HL2 had all the marketing and hype behind it.

Malkavian was my second, totally worth it. Curious about Nosferatu but haven't done it yet.
