Possible to remove Windows 7 and its partition without having to re-install Vista?

I've decided to uninstall Windows 7 from my desktop where I dual-boot Vista x64 and Windows 7.

Having read a large number of posts in favour of 7 here, I have to say that I'm doing so only for simple and practical reasons being:

- Using it very rarely if at all now, so not worth leaving there.
- Lack of free space on my HDD, so its 50GB partition for 7 is an unnecessary sacrifice of precious HDD space.
- Eventually I'd have no other choice upon its expiry, since afaik it will not be possible to perform a simple "upgrade" of the installed beta to the final released version if purchased; and even were this to be made possible, I don't foresee purchasing a new OS being necessary for me in the near future.

So I want to uninstall just for convenience and practicality's sake - not because I'm searching for reasons why it'd be better to ditch my Vista in favour of Windows 7.

So, is there a way I can uninstall 7 and remove its partition to get those 50GB once again available in my main Vista partition - without having to format my HDD or re-install my Vista?

Is it possible that I get my desktop's HD to consist of just one single partition using Vista as the sole OS - i.e. the way it had been before I created the partition and installed 7?

I've done several searches, perhaps I keep missing it out but the results I'm getting don't seem to apply where Vista is the main OS as is my case?

You could try going into trying to use the Windows 7 disk, and when it asks about the partition, select it and get rid of it.
But since it is a different partition, I don't think you can add it back to the Vista partition.

Doesn't vista have the extend volume option in disk management? So just format the 7 partition and extend the partition from within vista?

You could always try that...if that is an option.

Just go to disk management in vista and delete the partition 7 is on (right click on my computer go to manage/disk management). Poof. You can't extend the vista partition, but you can then format it and just use it in vista. It won't be on the same partition but it will work just as well.

assuming that vista was installed 1st & then 7 ....you would have to 'fix' the bootloader to delete the windows7 option..... would prop be a good idea to do that before you del the partiton

Try typing in partition into the vista search bar.

Not sure if it is in vista but on seven there is a handy partition manager.

Assuming Vista was installed first it is easy, I have done it myself.

Boot into Vista

Download EasyBCD and Install it

In Easy BCD you should be able to delete the Windows 7 Boot option

Then go to control panel

Then administritive tools

Then Computer management

Got to Disk management, then you should be able to delete the Windows 7 partition and extend the Vista one back over it.
