Unfortunately looking at the flood of reviews it isn't the 15% faster than 4870 xfire that's been mentioned about

i'm just going to give it some time for it to come out, and maybe some drivers for it. HOpefully it'll do better once i matures a bit. My 2900xt is cutting for now, so i';m not in such a rush.

Running the 3Dmark06 1.1.0 (free demo) got me 10423 with my FX-62@ 3.0Ghz

Than i put my cpu at stock (back to 2.8) to run Company of Heroes 1.71 test @ 1680X1050 with DirectX10, all settings to high and Ultra with 2X AA. I got an average FPS of 51.8

I know that my cpu is holding back a good score in 3Dmark06 so you don't have to say it.

But the COH test was a clear indication that the 4870 card is working very nicely.

I get roughly 11791 in 3Dmark 06 ,Yeah it is our cpu`s that hold us back.Mine the X2+6400BE @ 3.2gig.I can not remember anytime before that i bought a card at launch.And it performs like this.

Nothing earth shatterring here. But i'm not going for a world record. The games run great and that's all i need right now.

I don't see many FX + 4870 combinations.

Impressive, my score in Vantage @790/1100 is 15500. Granted I have E8400@4.3Ghz, but I don't think 200Mhz on CPU would net me >500 points in GPU section. Could you elaborate on the rest of your hardware?

You mean the GPU score or the final score?

I'm using the 8.7 betas in Vista. I only use Vista for Vantage and Crysis very high so no tweaks, etc.

Memory timings are 5-5-5-15, performance level 8, clocks were set from CCC. Don't think mobo settings would improve GPU scores anyway. I've edited my signature for full HW specs.

GPU score. I just retested @790/1100 and 8.7 beta drivers. My score was 16021. So it's within margin of error. The previous test was with 8.6 fix drivers. The best score I ever got out of those cards were 17355 for 860/1150 setting. But that was unstable for ati tool artifact test.

Yep. That's air (Xigmatek S1823). I know i can get 4.5GHz+ but first my E8400 needs to be lapped(core cover has terrrrrible surface) :banghead:
