Hello,

So I'm in the process of ordering parts for a m-ATX build (those who've been following this, it got a little bit bigger) that I shall be doing for someone else. My original plans were to use a very solid XFX 550W power supply. That was until I saw a sale on a Corsair CS550M.

In terms of specs, it seems to have a lot of good points. 80+ Gold efficiency, very quiet performance, modular cables, small size, etc. However, upon looking at some reviews, it does prove all of those points above, but also it seems to have fairly mediocre ripple, and would definitely lose the build quality competition against a Seasonic OEM PSU. The question is, are those negatives going to detract too much from what seems like a high efficiency and quiet power supply?

Thoughts?

EVGA G2 650W GOLD is the cheapest and best gold rated PSU I've seen on offer recently. Check out the deals on it. Well, nevermind, the deals ended on it. Wish I had bought one...
As for the build you're going for, I know full well those average ripple values will not matter in the slightest to your client.

True. Although Mr. Guru wasn't best pleased with the choice of capacitors or the quality of soldering either. I think the problem would lie with me, as I would be cringing knowing what the insides are like. Its not my own rig, however I would like to provide a quality of service to people I build for, despite who the client is. There's a ~£2 (~$4) difference between the XFX and Corsair (the former being the cheaper of the two).

Stick with what you (and I) know. The XFX is a damn good unit.
