yea you have one of those 4+4pin PSUs. the 8pin splits into 2 4pins so that it can be used with motherboards that only have a 4pin. they should combine together and plug into the 8pin

Your overclock is not stable. Please don't increase volatge on RAM, it is not recommended for Sandy Bridge to run above 1.50v (although it seems there are no issues up to 1.65v but it's good to be on a safe side especially if you run your sticks at stock 1600MHz)

OK I've set everything back to default settings and switched the RAM sticks into the other slots just in case.
RAM is set to 1333Mhz at 1.5v and the CPU is set to default at 3.3Ghz.
Running prime95 now for the past 5 minutes and it has passed my main error for the mean time.

It does appear that the RAM is having issues??
Or am I wrong?

I'm still suffering crashes grr!
I tried with one ram stick at a time and it still causes the same problems!

I think at this rate I must replace the PSU!

Is it normal for prime95 to only give the error to one core and not all of them?

I say go ahead and replace PSU anyways(you said it's been 4 years, I tend to replace every 2), and if that's not the case RMA the CPU.

it is possible one core is bad... try removing the "affinity" from that core for your programs and see if that helps, if you know which one. I'm not sure of an easy way to do this though.

edit: you can set the number of cores used by msconfig > boot > advanced options. it doesn't let you choose which ones though.
