I saw this on the main news page and i thought it looked good compared to the dual fan palit 4870.

It looks good for the fact it might be quiter sure the dual cooling solution looks like it would cool better but would i be better off getting this version.

It has cooling on the ram too so you can get a bit more from the ram, the reviewer claims to get an extra 200mhz from the ram and 60mhz on the gpu core.

just wonderd i have a loud 8800gt xpertvision and i need a boost in graphics power im barley able to run games full spec, plus i have a crossfire board its no good having a nvidia card for that.

whats everyones thought on the non stock 4870 and 4850 in general

i found that some of them have better pcbs but somewhat crappy cooling or they have excellent cooling but run a little louder the louder ones also cost a little more

generally im quite impressed with the palit and the powercolor havnt seen the sapphire yet but i should google it

Doesn't the Powercolor PCS have some nasty problem with fan not following temps/load level?
Then again, I don't really care about cooler problems I never ever use stock cooling. When I get a new card the stock cooler comes off as soon as I've made sure the card is functional.

I'm looking to replace my boring G92GTS... Powercolor PCS looks interesting. But then so does PALiT non reference. And Asus D5.
Oh well...

The Powercolor PCS that is having BIOS problems is the 4870, from everything I have seen on the 4850 it works just fine. I believe non reference/stock design cards some times overclock better do to the manufacturer redesigning the PCB and such.

Or the non-ref boards are just cheaper to build...
