Ive heard a lot about these kits - Mainly about how 1200mbs is false advertising as you will never reach these speeds in real world configurations so Ive kind of sat and waited till better/newer units became available.
One of the reasons why ive held off on being an early adopter is the price. I am currently running a pair of TP-Link AV600's which i purchased for £53 and AV1200s cost over £80, The AV600s were great while i was living on the second floor of my house pulling at least close to 75mb/s of my 100mb/s fibre connection.
Ive since moved upto the 3rd floor (my loft after it was converted into a room) and im barely able to scrape 40mb/s on a good day.
40mb/s isnt too bad - Its not bad at all. I can game and watch youtube in 1080 or 1440p without any buffering/lag but Im anal about it and if i have a 100mb/s connection then id want to get as close as i can to that speed as possible.
Has anyone had any experience with these 1200+ powerline kits? Id sure like to hear from you.
Other networking options are moving my AP/Powerline down a level where i can get 75mb/s throughput and connect to it wirelessly but since my AP is only a 300mb/s one. (wireless N) file transfers to and from my NAS are going to suck....
Unfortunately there is no easy straightforward solution and running network cable down 2-3 floors isnt really acceptable even though its possible.
With that in mind, Id like to hear your opinions and feedback regarding all this.
