I've bought it one day after release and hesitated to play it till recently for some reason. Man, this game is amazing and nothing like original which was basically just a straight shooter. The immersion level here is insane. It sort of combines best of both, System Shock 2 and Bioshock. And the way everything is executed is also amazing. It's literally hamster's hoarding dream :D And off it goes into a recycler :D

You can go guns blazing, you can do it in tricky ways by using gas lines and stack canisters and lure enemies over, you can bypass via alternate routes, climb above with the GLOO gun, glide across with jetpack, seal/extinguish fires with GLOO gun, hack turrets etc. It's a slow progress because I like to poke my nose into every drawer and closet, but it all just feels so cool. I'm kinda glad they took so long to release it, the quality is showing. And this had to take very long time to plan and architect it all before even beginning work on it. I mean, to even come up with the concept of mimics and what they are and how they behave is just mind blowing. They aren't as diverse as life forms since they are all black shadowy thingies, but they still managed to make them exciting and challenging.

Forgot to mention, that EVA space walk outside of space station was amazing experience. Maybe it was a bit more euphoric in Alien:Isolation where you could constantly hear your own breathing and pieces of space debris hitting your helmet, but this was pretty wow when I first left the Airlock in Fabrication section and turned around at the Talos 1 station.

I just wish I didn't get the pre-order golden shotgun. Yes, it came in handy, but seeing how late I found the normal one, it feels like I was cheating a bit till that point.

Btw, how do you like the hacking sequence? I think it's a rather innovative way to tackle hacking. It's challenging, but not annoying. For example, hacking in System Shock 2 was more or less lotery and none of user skills. Here, it's a mini game and very much depends on your sensen and how well you can guide the pointer between nodes. And based on difficulty level, you have same number of nodes to check.

This game should have been called Bioshock 3 or 4, has nothing in common with the original Prey.

Overall good experience, however the radar map system is crap imo.

I would have loved it if prey 2 was a sequel of the first game, or a parallel event with the first one just on a different ship.

Yeah, the devs said many times prior to release it shares no IP. Bethesda owned the name, Arkane was given the name for the project they were working on. It's unfortunate, because legions of people are confused by all that. :)

System Shock: The Prequel would have been a better title. Just change the name of TranStar to TriOptimum.

Overall I enjoyed the game very much but I could see how some players might not like the slower game play. One part I hated was the EVA part of the game. I felt like I couldnt really hide or sneak and melee was out of the question. I had no choice but to spray and pray.

And Bioshock should be named System Shock 3 then? Prey 2 created whole new universe and it doesn't really have anything else in common with other games other than common basic items, inventory and stuff interaction. They even don't have any currency, it was instead replaced with materials that are used to fabricate things. If Prey 2 was just a shooter like Prey 1 was, I'd be really disappointed. But, because it's nothing like original, it's phenomenal.

Also, radar map is perfectly fine. There are multiple levels, just follow the stairs or elevator/grav shafts when you switch to new level. That's that.

@RCoon perhaps think about changing the silly title of thread to just Prey, or Prey (2017), as it's not Prey 2 or a sequel, and just serves to continue to confuse people who haven't followed the development of the Arkane title. Or not. :)

Arkane showing us again how they can make an immersive sim better than anyone else out there at the moment. I imagine this is somewhat how System Shock players reacted to the game when it was originally launched.

The game's concept, worldbuilding and character building, are some of the best I've experienced this year. Sadly, Arkane's signature (read: amazing) art and environment designs don't get such a chance to shine here as they did in Dishonored 2, due to the enclosed spaces, but overall, pretty great. Thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay, enjoyed the twists, and that ending... Finally, a game which really puts most of your choices to the test, and has them count for something, even if just a simple scoring system.

But yes, Rejzor, I'm with you. I think we cheated with the shotgun... It did come in handy as hell though.

 Hmmmm, I apologize. Judging on your response I came off a bit rude, which was not my intention. At the time it was just a request/suggestion, apparently phrased wrongly.

I would love a sequel to Prey taking place on Earth on the infested streets. With the Morgan as the protagonist with all that super powers.

Except the objectives location are not shown on the map, just on the whole map level...

What's the point of exploration game if game leads you to a goal by holding your hand the entire time? Whole point of such games is following and understanding of clues and finding the objectives. If it's always drawn on the map, where's the excitement in figuring things out?

I was frustrated a bit with the treasure hunt maps, because I couldn't find some, but stubbornly refused to look at online walkthroughs. And after a bit, I figured out that it's not limited to one area only, so now I know I have to explore more. It was frustrating till that point, but after revelation, I was very happy.

Besides, it shows the goal in FPS view directly where to go (even shows through which airlocks.

Bought this game today for AUD $47 which is like half price here.

So far so good. I've been impressed.

Runs sickly on my SLI 1070's @ 4K fully maxed with 60fps.

I originally had one card enabled as I was playing games that really only needed the one card, so I tried the game first with just the one GPU (to see how it would run) and I was only pulling 36fps.

Good too see SLI is fully working on this game. Looks joy and is running like a dream :)
