You can still get a decent price when it's like one generation older, but P4 is 4-ish generations older ... (if you count Pentium D era as a generation)

I wouldn't part it out either when a rig is that old. CPU alone won't get more than 20 (if lucky!).

If you have an ebay account, sign in and search for your components. Then, in the left hand column, look for an option that says "completed", to show you listings that have ended. It will show you what that part actually sold for and give you an idea of what it is worth.

I did that for an old Asus P4 board about a year and I was shocked to see it going for around $100. It made no sense to me but there were people willing to pay that for it. {shrug}

That's the only way to get a sense for what things are worth - look at what people are willing to pay.
