Hey guys, recently my mam said she wanted to build a high end machine (I shed a single tear of happyness) but to be honest she can GTFO I wanna build it lol. Anyway, the budget would be around €1,000 but I'd like to jump in so it would be about €1,500. This will be used for high end gaming and as my video editing workstation.

This is the complete works, every part is needed except the OS. I priced it up last night quickly and it came to like €1,900 lol so I need to adjust a few things. This one in the list is Core i7 the one I done last night was Core 2 Quad.

Antec Nine Hundred - €95
Intel Core i7 920 - €249
Asus P6T SE - €176
Xigmatek Thor's Hammer - €53
3x2GB OCZ Platinum XTC 1600MHz - €104
1GB Sapphire 4890 Vapor-X - €198
640GB Samsung F1 - €59
Samsung SATA DVD-RW - €19
23" Acer V233Hb - €149
Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer - €74
Corsair HX850W - €149
Logitech Z-2300 - €134
Logitech MX 620 - €39
Logitech UltraX - €22

Total: €1,524 (Approx)

Think that's it all, any suggestions? Want to get it cheaper so I'm willing to swap parts around if I can.

There's soooo much pointless stuff in there...

€80 on a keyboard?
€129 on a soundcard?

There's some people selling stuff on here from IRL, 4870x2 and 4890.

What site is this from?

Ok I changed the mouse and keyboard, it's now €1,785. These are from Komplett, the only decent etailer in Ireland.

Not sure about the sound card being pointless but I'm open to suggestions, also I think I'll get the Z-2300 instead, then I'll get the Z-5500 later and use the Z-2300 myself.

i'd rather spend less on a sound card. But saying that, i feel the quality between my SupremeFX and this P5Q-E's onboard is tiny. And im someone whose always listening to music.

Everything seems fine, but I also agree about the sound card...it doesn't need to be that expensive. Almost every modern motherboard has decent to good on board audio. If you're trying to stick to that budget I'd leave the sound card and maybe the speakers off for now.

Changed the sound card and it's now €1,459, but is that a real X-Fi card or one of the ones that are just X-Fi branded?

Might I suggest 3x2GB ram. This will open up 3 dimms in case you ever do want to add more ram (and could possibly end up being cheaper).

Theres some money being waisted in that list ! Have a rethink man. F**k off the fancy case, forget bout a sound card (Note wrong with onboard sound !) go cheaper on the heatsink & get ya self a GTX295 or two HD4890's & a better higher res monitor with the money saved.

Well thats wot i wud do anyway ;)

I would suggest the storage option be changed around... I would go with a smaller drive - like a 320GB for the OS and apps, etc... then get yourself a 640GB storage drive ...

Also, like everyone else stated, you don't need that sound card. I would make some other changes... you need to rethink this ...

Changed to 3x2GB and saved €3.

I'll rethink the case, but I want the soundcard. There isn't really many options for CPU coolers so I just went for the Xigmatek. I don't really see myself getting a GTX 295 (Cheapest is €424) or 2 4890s (Cheapest is €378 for 2) as I can't really save too much more on other parts. The monitor is fine, 23" @ 1920x1080.

I would suggest the storage option be changed around... I would go with a smaller drive - like a 320GB for the OS and apps, etc... then get yourself a 640GB storage drive ...

Chose a 640GB Samsung F1, saved €20.

I don't think the Antec Twelve Hundred is overkill but I will rethink the case, and a sound card is not pointless.

I guess I could pick the Antec Nine Hundred, saving about €65.
